The AFL is becoming more diverse thanks to the rise of players with multicultural backgrounds - but more should be done
Multicultural round was changed in 2018 showing that the AFL have not been as committed to multiculturalism as they should be.
Now here’s a little story, to tell it is a must, About the way the Tigers and the Magpies season turned to dust.
Richmond fell to Carlton, Collingwood to Port
So after finishing fifth and sixth their efforts were for nought.
The Tigers led by six goals plus, the game was almost won
But Carlton hadn’t read the script and came with a late run.
They overpowered Richmond who just ran out of steam
Seems winning any final was just a Tiger dream.
The Magpies made so many errors with basic footy skills,
And finally they were over Powered and made to look like dills!
The AFL is crying, Tigers, Magpies out, bad luck!
The drop in the attendance will cost a million bucks.
Carlton travels north to Sydney to play against the Swans
They have a chance. Thanks AFL, thanks Jimmy, thank you Dons!
The other game sees Port Adelaide play against the Cats,
Playing at the MCG, not Simonds, why is that?
Was good enough for the AFL to put Freo’s game out there,
Guess they had a change of heart for fear of cries: “Unfair!”
Meanwhile, life continues, back among the unsuccessful teams,
Coaches gone, delistings, the shattering of dreams.
The Demons got their man, Paul Roos they did approach,
But only for a couple of years to develop a new coach.
Whoosha quit the Eagles, seems he’s out of puff,
But he left with quite a record and that is good enough!
Who will win the big one? Read and watch this space,
The Blues might create history if they win it from ninth place!
