Former Adelaide defender Nathan Bassett has joined the revamped Essendon coaching panel.
Bassett, 36, has made an impressive start to his coaching career, leading Norwood to back-to-back flags in the SANFL in 2012-13.
Senior coach Mark Thompson – who will have one year in the top job while James Hird serves a suspension for his role in the Bombers’ controversial supplements program – said Bassett would bring a lot to the club.
“Nathan comes highly regarded, and has proven his credentials and talents as coach during his time at Norwood in the SANFL,” Thompson said.
“Three grand finals and two flags in four years at Norwood footy club is a terrific effort.”
Bassett will also link up again with new Bombers head of coaching Neil Craig, who was Bassett’s head coach at the Crows for much of his 210-game playing career.
Essendon have now finalised their coaching panel for next year which also includes another former Crows great, Simon Goodwin, as senior assistant.
