Dons fans furious as Roo awarded first AFL goal after interminably long review ends in controversy

North Melbourne coach Brad Scott says he’s staggered by an AFL goal review howler in his side’s win over Melbourne.
A fourth-quarter long bomb from Jack Ziebell appeared to clear hands on the goal-line for another Kangaroos major, only to be sent upstairs.
A lengthy delay followed before a behind was awarded, much to Scott’s consternation.
“I’m not sure if the viewers at home had a different view to me, but the clips I saw … if that was conclusive then I don’t know who’s making that adjudication.”
It was clear where Jack Ziebell stood an hour after the game.
“I think the AFL owes me a goal tonight.. Good win by the boys. #goroos” he posted on Twitter.
He then offered the umpires upstairs an olive branch, declaring himself a fan of the system.
“I like the system because you can – or you should be able to – fix obvious errors,” he said.
“My understanding was if it’s not an obvious error, go with the umpire’s call.
“The umpires got overruled on that one.”
“We accept the umpires’ decision. We accept they make mistakes too because we make them.”
Scott was also frustrated with his side’s performance despite the comfortable win.
“There were some things we were really disappointed with,” he said.
“We’ve got to hold ourselves to a higher account because that’s what really good teams do.
“We’re not going fantastically when you compare us with (the top teams), and you’ve got to compare yourselves with the top sides.”
While he lost Robin Nahas to a suspected dislocated shoulder, he doused fears that captain Andrew Swallow could spend another long stint on the sidelines with a knee injury.
“Structurally it’s fine. The medical staff are convinced it’s fine, he’s just a little bit sore,” he said.
Swallow, who spent much of the last year out with an achilles injury, told Fox Footy he “twisted it a little bit” and would have scans.
“I was a bit proppy coming off. There’s not too much pain … I should be right.”

Apart from one five-goal game, GWS forward Toby Greene has only kicked six goals from the other eight games. He's traditionally had success against the Western Bulldogs.
Bayley Fritsch should become an even more important player from a structural perspective, given key forward Jacob van Rooyen will be unavailable due to concussion.
