The cheers and chants of Western Sydney Wanderers fans turned to laughter on Saturday night when a streaker took to the field during the sides’ 1-0 victory against Al Hilal in the opening leg of the Asian Champions League final.

During what was otherwise a tense and tight affair, the streaker took to the field, racing across the ground wearing nothing but a Western Sydney Wanderers scarf around his neck.

As the game came to a halt, he appeared poised to have a good crack at making the length of the pitch, until a security official nipped the situation in the bud.

The brightly clad guard powered from the sideline at high pace, quickly gaining ground as he tracked the pasty and partially distracted Wanderers fan.

Taking him low around both knees and bringing him to the ground in one swift movement left many witnesses impressed with the security guard’s proficiency in the art of tackling.

The streaker was left with nothing other than a face full of grass and no chance of escape.

The Western Sydney Wanderers face off against Al Hilal in the early hours on Sunday morning (AEDT).

They have the chance to make Australian football history if they become the first A-League team to secure the Asian Champions League title.
