The Aguri Formula E team is said to be breaking ties with title sponsor Amlin at the conclusion of the end of season finale at Battersea Park, London, this weekend.

The current agreement with the Aguri Formula E team is with their operational company SAFE Racing (Super Aguri Formula E Ltd).

As reported by Motorsport.com, an injunction hearing on Wednesday was initiated by SAFE Racing Ltd against Amlin for allegedly breaking their commercial agreement after Amlin served notice to extract itself from their contract last month.

“High level sources have confirmed to Motorsport.com that senior Amlin personnel are believed to have visited and met with its intended future Formula E partner team earlier this year to potentially orchestrate the move to the team, which has yet to win a Formula E race.

“The judge who presided over the hearing – Mr Justice Morgan – stated that the injunction was ‘unprecedented’ and the hearing subsequently ended.”

The Aguri Formula E team have been unavailable for comment, other than a Twitter statement depicting the team’s mascot ‘Cat’, claiming “Don’t believe everything you read on the internet”.
