Hawthorn's day of reckoning arrives against West Coast

Cast your mind backwards to the beginning of the season
There were wild predictions made for some very strange reason
It was said the Kangas were certain to bring home the flag
While others thought Geelong or the Pies had it in the bag.

But cups aren’t won in April, May, June or even July
And now we’re at the pointy end let us ask ourselves why
Given all they’ve gone through, could not the Hawks make it three?
I reckon anything’s possible, so let’s wait and see.

After all courage, endurance, mateship and sacrifice
Are not merely words but Hawthorn’s way, to be more precise
They’re forged through adversity like Kokoda men of old
And etched in the hearts of those who wear the mighty brown and gold.

Now the Hawks play the Eagles and on their own turf to boot
And we know our boys can win, even with the long commute
After all, they’ve done it before and can do it again
Be very afraid Eagles – here comes Clarko and his men.

West Coast may have JK who’s just won the Coleman Medal
But we have 10-plus goal kickers with their feet to the pedal
They may also have Nic Nat who can step up on the night
But he’s no match for Cyril or Pop when those two take flight.

All of us fans will cheer loudly no matter where we watch
We’ll be looking to our Hawkers to take things up a notch
They’re on the verge of history with greatness now beckoning
But for West Coast this Friday might be their day of reckoning.
