This is an opportunity that comes around every four years. Even the best would normally only get two maybe three bites at this cherry.

There have been many great warriors, some as good as you. A few maybe even better that have not had the chance to be crowned world champions, let alone succeed.

This is what lays before you – the opportunity to forever know what it is like to stand atop the mountain of world rugby. To stand at the capital of rugby’s birth place and know you could not be bested. To look behind you and see the teams, scattered asunder, who could not keep pace with your golden onslaught.

Of course this final battle has not yet been fought and it is the mightiest of foe who stands between you and greatness. Our cantankerous pacific neighbour, a pimple of an island really, but regardless a breeding ground for some mighty warriors.

Out of this volcanic island breeds tough men, sworn to uphold what its people hold dearest. A Spartan race that from the moment they can walk they are selected, groomed, trained and toughened to the point on being nigh on unbeatable… nigh.

However, they have yet to encounter our new breed of golden warriors. Toughened on our lands then sent into initial battles never before seen in world rugby. Swords were sharpened in the soft, well fed underbelly of the hated English. Then onwards where the great golden wall was assembled at the siege of Twickenham. No Welsh would pass and when they could fight no more we sent them to their fate.

Then the Scots, the poor Scots. It seemed that you did all you could to fall to this gallant if limited band of brothers. The gods shined on you that day and the lessons were well heeded. With the north conquered we moved south where South American flair was seen off with a ruthless efficiency. Injured warriors returned, creating havoc among Argentinian ranks who were left with nothing but tears about what might have been.

This brings us back to our final foe, the darkness.

Hardened warriors no doubt, but they bleed nonetheless. For you see in their strength is their weakness. They are rarely tested, truly tested. They do not know adversity, real adversity. They have not had to defend as if their lives depended upon it. They have not had to stare down enemies who believed they were a chance.

Until now the darkness have only faced those who knew, deep in their hearts, that they would be defeated. But not you, not our golden warriors. As surely as the sun defeats the dark of night you know that you can cut them down, these so called All Blacks.

Bring your best and their manna nor their mystique, nor anything will save them. The time is nigh, so sleep well, rest and when the time comes fight, fight for yourselves, fight for those who have gone before and fight for the 22 million who stand with you.

You are our chosen ones, our golden warriors, you are Wallabies!
