WATCH: Martin Guptill undone by an unplayable delivery

It’s rare to see genuine mullygrubbers on modern Test cricket pitches, but that’s exactly what Martin Guptill had to contend with at Dunedin.

The New Zealand batsman had safely made it to 48 after a sensational century in the first innings when Sri Lankan spinner Rangana Herath got one to shoot off the surface before cannoning into the stumps at barely ankle height.

The pitch certainly wasn’t unplayable and went into a fifth day where Sri Lanka made a solid total in the fourth innings chasing 405.

Guptill’s dismissal brought back memories of Greg Blewett’s misfortune at the WACA when Curtly Ambrose aimed for the cracks.
