Australia will be looking to snap a run of losing performances in T20 matches when they come up against South Africa in the second of a three-match series on Sunday night (AEDT). Join The Roar for live scores from the match, starting at 11:30pm AEDT.

Australia lost the first match of the series early on Saturday morning and that loss followed a run of three straight defeats at the hands of India earlier in the summer.

With the World T20 now close on the horizon – and the knowledge that Australian audiences will now have the chance to view it – the Australian team will be wanting to tune up and build some winning form in these last two matches.

Australia weren’t really able to build anything more than a mediocre total in the first T20 match against their hosts, with Aaron Finch’s 40 as an opener the best of any batsman in the team.

Mitch Marsh put together 35 later in the order and David Warner (20) and Glenn Maxwell (17) both cracked double figures, but low totals from Usman Khawaja (9) and Steve Smith (6) were disappointments in a match Australia could have won.

For South Africa Faf du Plessis played a solid role in the win with his knock of 40, but it was a big 53 not out from David Miller that guided the hosts to victory with just four balls and three wickets remaining.

Nathan Coulter-Nile was Australia’s most productive bowler with three wickets, no one else able to take more than one. Imran Tahir took three for the hosts, while Kagiso Rabad and David Wiese took two each.

All in all it was a pretty close finish with no team clearly superior. That’s reflected in the betting odds for this upcoming match which are dead even.
