Normally you would write an established franchise down as a sure thing against the new boys. But today that wouldn’t be the case with the Reds struggling following the exit of senior players.

The Sunwolves have entered this competition in surprising fashion and they nearly pulled off a shock upset against the Stormers last week.

But when you combine that with a hammering against the Cheetahs it has been a baptism of fire. However that recent game brings some interest to this one especially if Samu Kerevi doesn’t play.

The Sunwolves have the weapons to attack the Reds with Akihito Yamada flourishing since his move from the Force. Combine that with Tusi Pisi and a few Japanese internationals, and the Reds will need to bring their best.

On recent form the Reds have struggled and will look to limp out the rest of this season. However Cadeyrn Neville will be back and by all reports Samu Kerevi has trained well and could be a late inclusion that would boost the Reds’ backline immensley.

There will be great interest behind Ayumu Goromaru, Japan’s World Cup hero. For the Sunwolves first game in Australia, there have been tours offered to see Goromaru. In that instance the Reds might have their largest crowd this season.

Prediction
The Reds have struggled this season, if Kerevi returns they probably win this game. If not, the Sunwolves could pull an almighty upset.
