Ray and I could not sleep last night after reading revelations about 32-year-old Ryan Hoffman being suggested as a bolter to replace Boyd Cordner in State of Origin Game 2.

It led Ray and I to believe that Bob Fulton was on the payroll of the QRL not the NSWRL. If this is, we’ll tune into SBS and watch Heston Bloomenhell make a gastro-fuelled meal out of organic maggots!

I am not attacking Hoffman’s status in the game, given his achievements. However, like his Warriors, he has for the most part in season 2016 played like a busted. Knock-ons at key moments inside the opposition 20, on more than the odd occasion, and ineffective hit ups are all the Blues need to win at the cauldron. Is it April 1?!

A list of potential candidates should read:

1. Tyson Frizell: 18th man and on stand-by longer than Charles has been waiting to take the throne!
2. Wade Graham: made for Origin, a good leader and experience beyond his years. Adds more than just a plodding ‘imitating the 150-1 shot in the Melbourne Cup’ hit-up!
3. Bryce Cartwright: a defensive nightmare, skilful, big, terrific hands, pretty much everything the bolter lacks, aside from size.
4. Ryan James: aggressive, combative, could push Paul Gallen into lock and start in the front row in place of Woods, who lacks what James has – aggression.
5. Beau Scott: if you want to dip into the archives and pull out an experienced head, at least pick the one in form!

What next Bozo, a recall for Akuila Uate?
