The 21st Commonwealth Games, held on the Gold Coast, will kick off on Wednesday, April 4 at 7pm (AEST) with the Opening Ceremony set to be held at Carrara Stadium. This is The Roar‘s guide to live streaming the event online and watching it on TV.

The Opening Ceremony will mark the fifth time Australia have hosted the Games, with the parade of nations being the key event of the night.

There will also be plenty of entertainment, headlined by Delta Goodrem and Dami Im, while Indigenous culture is also expected to play a heavy role in the evening.

How to watch the opening ceremony on TV

The exclusive broadcasters of the Commonwealth Games in Australia are the Seven Network. They will cover the Games with over 300 hours of content on TV and another almost 800 online.

Coverage of the Opening Ceremony itself will begin at 7pm (AEST), leaving very little time before the ceremony itself is due to begin. It will run until 11pm (AEST).

Channel Seven can be found at Channel 70 in high definition and 71 in standard definition, while those watching via Foxtel will need Channel 207 and 107 respectively.

How to live stream the opening ceremony online

If you are looking to watch the opening ceremony of the 2018 Commonwealth Games online, you will need to use the official application or website set up by Seven for the Games.

It can be downloaded for free from both iTunes and the Google Play store, with it officially being known as ‘7CommGames.’

Through the app or website, you will be able to watch exactly the same coverage you would see on the TV.
