As members of the Western Bulldogs, the parallel careers of Jordan Roughead and Easton Wood will continue. Both will pass Alan Stoneham and Mick Egan and equal Don Ross, Darren Baxter and Shaun Higgins who now plays for North Melbourne.

Don Ross played with Footscray (now Western Bulldogs) between 1952 and 1958 and was a member of the 1954 premiership side – the only premiership that the Western Bulldogs had won up until 2016.

A talented footballer, Ross won the Charlie Sutton Medal (the Western Bulldogs Best and Fairest).

Darren Baxter followed in his father’s (Ray Baxter) footsteps and joined the Bulldogs in 1984. A handy utility player, he gave the club good service before his surprise trade to Hawthorn in 1993.

Heath Grundy (Sydney) this week will equal the playing record of one of the AFL’s most courageous players – Brett Kirk, A dual Best and Fairest winner. Kirk was recruited from North Albury in 1999 and played with the Swans until 2010.

He was an All Australian player in 2004, played in a premiership in 2005 and appeared in a grand final in 2006.

From 2006 until 2010 he was co-captain of Sydney. A practising Buddhist, Kirk met the Dalai Lama when he toured Australia in 2008.

Shaun Atley (North Melbourne) will pass Corey Jones and equal Barry Goodingham on the Kangaroos’ top 100 list. Corey Jones headed North Melbourne’s goal kicking list in 2007, his best year at the club.

Originally from Wycheproof, Jones was drafted from South Australian club Sturt as pick number 60 in the 2000 National Draft. He played his first game in 2001 and gave the club good service, kicking two bags of seven goals over his career.

However, his star was on the wane by 2008 and he eventually retired in 2010, returning to play at Wycheproof-Narraport.

Barry Goodingham was recruited from Edithvale-Aspendale and played for North Melbourne from 1967 to 1975, including the 1975 premiership. He captained the club in 1971.

Matthew Kreuser, one of only three current Carlton players who has made the club’s top 100 game players list, will draw level with Jim Buckley in the game in Tassie on Saturday night.

Buckley was recruited from Kyneton and played in three premierships with the Blues, winning the Best and Fairest trophy in 1982, the year of the third premiership.

Buckley’s only son Dylan was recruited to the club under the father-son rule, but Dylan was delisted at the end of the 2017 season after only 39 games.

Aaron Hall will become the 11th player to play 100 games for the Gold Coast Suns when he takes the field against the West Coast Eagles in Perth Stadium on Saturday night.

Of the current players, he is ranked seventh, and – with a reasonable injury free year – should climb to at least seventh on the club’s all-time top 100 games played list.

For the West Coast Eagles, Mark LeCras’ 200th game should be a highlight. LeCras is already an AFL top 100 goalkicker, currently in 90th position, four goals behind 89th-placed Jason Akermanis.

Another highlight for the locals will be Shannon Hurn’s effort in reaching the total number of games played by David Wirrpanda.

When Wirrpanda made his debut for the West Coast Eagles in Round 5 of the 1996 AFL season, he had not yet turned 17 and still remains the youngest player ever to debut for the club.

He made the All-Australian team in 2005 and played in the Eagles’ premiership win in 2006. Wirrpanda sits in 13th position on the West Coast Eagles all-time top 100 game players list.
