The Sydney Swans have defeated the Brisbane Lions by 18 points at the Gabba on Saturday afternoon.

The Swans slogged it out the wet conditions, doing enough at the right times to record a third straight victory and continue their winning streak against the developing Lions outfit.

Josh P Kennedy (34 disposals, 23 contested) was huge in the middle for Sydney, with good contributions from George Hewett (28 disposals, 5 tackles) and Jake Lloyd (26 disposals).

Young forwards Isaac Heeney, Will Hayward and Ben Ronke kicked two goals each, and debutant Ryley Stoddart also got on the board with a left foot snap.

Lance Franklin was held to one goal by Darcy Gardiner, with help from Harris Andrews at marking contests.

It was a turnaround performance from the defence that allowed Franklin to kick eight goals the last time these two teams played.

Dayne Beams was best for Brisbane, finding plenty of the ball gathering 38 disposals and kicking one goal.

Stefan Martin dominated the ruck for Brisbane (58 hit-outs, 8 clearances), while Mitch Robinson (35 disposals, 7 tackles) and Allen Christensen (27 disposals, 1 goal, 5 tackles) also had an impact with the ball around the ground.

Reality TV Show winner Matty Eagles (adductor) is the only injury concern from the game.

Next up for Brisbane is a trip to Etihad Stadium for a Sunday clash with North Melbourne, while Sydney host the struggling Carlton Blues on Friday night at the SCG.
