Match preview:

Round 14 of the NRL season has the Sydney Roosters head up the M1 to take on the Newcastle Knights. Join The Roar for live scores and a blog of the match from 5:30pm (AEST).

Two weeks ago, after a 48-10 hammering from the Sharks, many thought Newcastle’s season was done. The Knights had other ideas, beating the Eels 30-4 in a one-sided affair last weekend and now sit two wins outside the eight.

After being named in the front row on Tuesday, Daniel Saifiti has dropped out of the 17, with Jacob Lillyman into the squad. Herman Ese’ese returns from suspension in the only other change from the team that beat Parramatta.

After a relatively slow start to the season, you get the impression that the Roosters are starting to live up to their potential. Missing their Origin stars last weekend, they managed to get the two points against the Tigers. It wasn’t pretty, but it continues their momentum.

James Tedesco, Latrell Mitchell, Boyd Cordner and Dylan Napa have all been named to play, with Blake Ferguson shifting back to the wing, Mitch Aubusson and Victor Radley starting from the bench, and Sio Siua Taukeiaho named in the second row.

Prediction
The Knights get the benefit of playing at home but the Roosters will win comfortably.

Sydney Roosters by 16.
