The race itself is scheduled to get underway at 11:10am (AEDT) on Sunday, October 7 at the famous Mount Panorama circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales.

With 300 championship points on the line, it’s one of the most important races of the year and the winners of Bathurst are always celebrated, with the race often being placed on an equal pedestal to that of winning the championship.

Spanning 6.213 kilometres, Mount Panorama is one of the most famous circuits in the world and with 161 laps in order, 1000 kilometres await the field for another year, hence the ‘1000’ component of the name.

How to watch the race on TV

The race will be broadcast on two channels in Australia, meaning there is choice for viewers.

The best option without a doubt is to tune in through Fox Sports. They have had a dedicated 24/7 Bathurst channel for the past week which will, in turn, broadcast the race. It can be found through Foxtel on Channel 506.

Their coverage on race day will begin at 7:15am (AEDT) with support categories and the warm-up. They will remain on the air post-race until 6:30pm (AEDT), although this may change if the race runs overtime like it did last year due to weather.

To watch the coverage on Fox Sports, you will need to have a valid Foxtel TV subscription complete with the sports package.

The alternative to watch the coverage will be through the Ten Network. Their coverage on race day starts at 7:30am (AEDT) and runs until 6pm (AEDT). Being free-to-air TV, there will be ad breaks on Ten, whereas Fox will be ad-free from green to the chequered flag.

How to live stream the race online

Like the race broadcast itself, there will be two options to stream the race online if you’re in Australia.

The first of those is to use one of Foxtel’s dedicated streaming applications – either Foxtel Now or the Foxtel App.

Foxtel Now is the better option to use if you don’t already have a TV subscription, while the app can be used for those with a TV package already in place.
