It’s time for the hype to stop and the football to start as the 2018-19 A-League season gets underway. This is The Roar‘s guide to streaming every match throughout the 27 rounds online, or watching them on TV.

This season has seen the lead-up dominated by talk around Usain Bolt, however, it’ll be Melbourne Victory trying to defend their championship, after beating the Newcastle Jets in last season’s grand final.

How to watch matches on TV

The best way to catch every match of the upcoming A-League season is to tune in through Fox Sports. They hold the exclusive rights to most matches throughout the season and will carry comprehensive coverage including pre and post-match shows.

Fox Sports will generally show most of the games on Channel 503, however, the best bet is to check your electronic programming guide in the lead-up to each game so you don’t miss one.

If you are looking to watch each and every match of the season, you will need to be holding a valid Foxtel TV subscription, complete with the sports package.

The A-League’s free-to-air TV partner, Channel Ten, will carry limited coverage of matches. They broadcast the primetime match each Saturday evening, however, are limited to that one game per week.

The first of those is the Melbourne derby between the Victory and City this weekend.

How to live stream matches online

If you are looking to stream matches online, there will be three options for you to do so.

Like watching them on TV, the best option will be to use one of Foxtel’s dedicated streaming applications. There are two of these, so it’s important to know which is the best one to sign up for.

The first option is for those who already have a TV subscription – the Foxtel App – which is free to use and download for those with login details.

If you are only looking to stream, then you’ll want to sign up for Foxtel Now, which has packages including sport starting from $39 per month.

The second option is to use TenPlay, which will cover those Saturday night matches broadcast on the network.

Otherwise, you’ll be looking at downloading the My Football application from the apple or google play stores, with a yearly subscription setting you back $99.
