What a talented man Greg Marzhew is!
It’s no secret Mitchell Pearce has a bad track record in State of Origin.
Five wins from 18 matches and no series wins. That’s a tough pill to swallow.
I get it. The man has a bad record in the Origin arena.
But that’s going to change.
In his losses for NSW, Pearce was up against a dominant Queensland side featuring Cameron Smith, Billy Slater, Cooper Cronk, Johnathan Thurston, Greg Inglis and a lot of stand-out forwards like Matthew Scott, Corey Parker and Sam Thaiday.
The man tried his heart out and Jarryd Hayne cost NSW the victory in 2017, not Mitchell Pearce.
Since he’s come to the Newcastle Knights, he’s turned his whole career around.
He helped the Knights complete their head-to-toe rebuild and has become the heart and soul of the club since Nathan Ross had to retire.
The fans love the man and he’s loves them right back. He goes out of his way to mingle with them, take photos, signs things and even say hi to the little ones.
A close friend of mine named his latest son after him.
Mitchell Pearce has been in career best form. He scored in five straight matches, at one point led the Dally M Medallist count and has shown he can cope with pressure.
State of Origin may be another level of football but he can finally pull it off.
I believe that if Mitchell Pearce leads NSW to win this series, he will lead the Newcastle Knights to the 2019 premiership.
Finally conquering the State of Origin arena will give him a newfound mentality that will then play out for the rest of the Newcastle Knights squad.
They won’t just take charge towards the finals, they will explode right out the gates and own the competition. They might even win their ever minor premiership.
Roarers, do you think Mitchell Pearce is the man for the Blues? And can he lead the Knights to the NRL crown?
