When doing the research on the left-footed A-League players for season 2019-20 it was quite tough to narrow it down to a squad of 18.

Jamie Young (Brisbane Roar)
Young helped to resurrect the Brisbane Roar’s season when he was eventually given an opportunity to be in the starting line-up.
Defenders
Alex Grant
(centre-back, Perth Glory)
Alex Grant was a revelation this season; the Perth Glory have him to thank for being in the top six as it stands.
Michael Jakobsen (centre-back, Adelaide United)
Jakobsen led from the front for Adelaide United, even when they conceded lots of goals, his endeavour was great.
Nikolai Topor-Stanley (centre-back, Newcastle Jets)
Topor-Stanley helped the Newcastle Jets recover from a tumultuous predicament as they were last on the A-League ladder to currently sit just three points outside the top six.
Midfielders
Liberato Cacace (Vice-Captain- right wing, Wellington Phoenix)
Cacace would be the best equipped to play on the right hand side. He has been named Vice-Captain, because he is such an unbelievable player and would learn a lot in that role, which would hold him in good stead.
Ulises Davila (centre midfield, Wellington Phoenix)
Davila would be forced to play in the centre of midfield due to the fact that there would be two attacking midfielders in this team. Davila would be a good distributor of the ball in the centre of the park. Davila has 11 goals and five assists, which is incredible!
Alessandro Diamanti (Captain- attacking midfield, Western United)
Diamanti has five goals and seven assists this season, but it was his passing in general play that was most impressive. Making Diamanti captain was a no brainer.
Riley McGree (attacking midfield, Adelaide United)
McGree has ten goals and five assists and is most at home in the attacking third of the park.

James Meredith (right wing, Perth Glory)
James Meredith was an extremely hard worker for the Perth Glory; he justified Tony Popovic’s decision to recruit him as he was a big reason why the Perth Glory are fifth on the A-League ladder.
Strikers
Craig Noone (Melbourne City)
Noone has a total of four goals and five assists, while his work in general play has also been impressive.
Max Burgess (Western United)
It’s only a matter of time before Max Burgess starts scoring more goals; in the game that he scored his first goal he managed to score a hat trick. He not only has four goals this season, but three assists. He is a good player who just needed a bit of confidence, which a hat trick can give you!
Substitutes
Lewis Italiano (Reserve Goal Keeper, Newcastle Jets)
Italiano showed that he should have been playing earlier this season with some quality displays. He surprised me with his focus and how good his distribution was, but Jamie Young was impossible to go past for a starting position.
Wes Hoolahan (Newcastle Jets)
Hoolahan showed why he was so highly regarded when he returned from injury creating chances almost at will!
Ryan Kitto (Adelaide United)
If Kitto could just recapture the form that he showed in season in 2018-19 he would be in the starting line-up. Nevertheless, he is a utility who is a useful player to have on the bench.
Bobby Burns (Newcastle Jets)
Burns is a player that has plenty of ability and is versatile as he can play left back or left wing.
Connor Pain (Western United)
Pain currently has two goals and four assists and has worked extremely hard this season.
Harrison Delbridge (Melbourne City)
On talent alone Delbridge would be in the starting line up, but he needs to improve, which there’s no doubt he will.
Ramy Najjarine (Melbourne City)
Najjarine just has to keep his feet on the ground and he will be playing at a higher level, which he displayed in the Australian Olympic qualifiers when he scored an impressive goal.
