Blues Origin predicted team: Maguire set to overhaul squad in search of winning combination
New coach Michael Maguire is considering as many as 50 players for the State of Origin series opener with not even captain James Tedesco…
With the series set to begin next week, State of Origin teams are due to be announced soon. Before that happens, however, we want to hear from you as to who Brad Fittler should pick in the side for Game 1.
After recovering from a 1-0 deficit to claim last year’s series 2-1, the Blues come into the 2020 series as hot favourites due to mass inexperience and unavailability in the Maroons camp.
However, there will be at least seven changes to the side that won Game 3 last year. James Maloney no longer plays in the NRL, Tom Trbojevic is out injured, while Blake Ferguson, Mitchell Pearce, David Klemmer, Paul Vaughan and Wade Graham were not selected for this year’s squad.
James Tedesco is also under an injury cloud, but Fittler is confident the Roosters superstar will be right to go.
Unlike previous years, both sides have named a 27-man squad in advance of the entire series, so there’ll be no write-ins this time – we’re making you stick to the squad.
With all that out of the way, pop your preferred NSW Origin team in form at the bottom of the article, and make sure you let the other Roarers know who you’ve selected in the comment section below.
Get your votes in by Friday, and we’ll have the results up this weekend.
