MVP Dylan Edwards is the man Penrith's system might not be able to cover
The Panthers' system covers most situations, but how would it cope without iron man Dylan Edwards?
Penrith have picked up Wests Tigers flyer Robert Jennings on a one-year deal, returning him to his junior club where he made his NRL debut in 2015.
Robert Jennings will return to Penrith after being let go by Wests Tigers to take up a one-year option with his junior club.
The Panthers confirmed Jennings’ homecoming on Friday, after he debuted for the club in 2015 before heading to Souths.
Among the NRL’s leading try-scorers in 2018 at the Rabbitohs, Jennings moved to the Tigers in 2019 before an injury-riddled 2020.
But he was not re-signed by the Tigers at the end of last season, as part of a club-wide clean out that saw seven players let go either mid-season or at year’s end.
“I was over the moon when I heard there was a chance to come back to Penrith,” Jennings said.
“This is where I grew up, where my career started and this is the place I call home.
“I’m extremely grateful to have the opportunity to reunite with so many of the talented players that I came through the grades with.
“The last couple of years have been tough but coming back to Panthers is a chance for me to hit the reset button, get back into the hard work and prove that I belong in the NRL.”
The 24-year-old will face a battle to push into Penrith’s backline, with their grand-final side not including the likes of Dean Whare or Charlie Staines and no-one moving on.
