Hey Roarers!
Wow. Are you guys okay? It’s been a week. Round 19 had it all and finished on a note that had everyone screaming from the rafters.
Let’s recap –
Brisbane were too strong for Parramatta on Thursday night, downing the Blue and Gold 36-14 at CommBank Stadium. Adam Reynolds was on song, while Gutho and his men are trying to work out whether they are actually good at footy or not. And to those ‘fans’ that booed young Jakob Arthur – not cool.
Ben Hunt beat Manly…. sorry…. the Dragons beat Manly on Friday night, with a solid 20-16 win at Kogarah. The Sea Eagles thought slipping out of the top eight would be their biggest headache for this week!
Speaking of headaches, that’s what I got watching my boy getting thumped 42-12 by the Roosters in Newcastle on Friday night. Teddy was on fire as his team continues to charge towards the finals, while poor KP looks to be ruled out for the season after yet another head knock, and the rest of the Knights can now start getting their Mad Monday outfits ready.
Super Saturday kicked off with the Warriors almost causing an upset down in Canberra. Trailing 14-0 at halftime, the Raiders kicked into gear after the break to come back for a 26-14 victory. How good is Joseph Tapine? He is just on another level at the moment.
Hooley Dooley – Panthers and Sharks! Despite an early 10-0 lead to Cronulla, the Penrith crowd were relieved their boys came back for a 20-10 win. The match wasn’t the best performance from either side, but the drama as well as the spite between the two was worth the price of admission alone! What did you make on Finucane’s tackle on Crichton?
The Bunnies continued their winning streak since Latrell’s return, this time downing the Storm 24-12. Melbourne are in serious pain at the moment – I’m still trying to get my head around the fact they have lost four in a row.
The Doggies were too good for the Titans on Sunday with a 36-26 win. Matt Burton had another top day out, The Foxx bagged a hat-trick, and Kevin Proctor showed us all the super genius he really is. I’m getting him some Wyle. E Coyote business cards printed up for when he heads over to England.
Then we had the Cowboys and the Tigers in the last match of the round in Townsville. Nothing out of the ordinary happened, it was a well officiated game, and the home side got the chocolates with a controversial-free 27-26 victory. Everyone hugged and high fived after the siren and skipped off together hand in hand. (Look, our heads are all still spinning, I’m just trying to keep it light.)
AJ, Mary, Mike and Paul all tipped 6/8, while you legends in the Crowd and I tipped 5/8. AJ is still out in front on 106, and Paul is close behind on 104. Mary and the Crowd are currently tied for third on 100, with Mike in fourth on 92. I am still last on 84. I know, I’m just as surprised as you are.
Ok, onto Round 20 – Women in League Round.
The Roosters travel to 4 Pines Park to take on the Under 8’s Sea Eagles tonight at 7.50pm. As we all know, Manly will be missing seven of their stars with the Pride Jersey Debacle, so it will be a tough slog against an in-form Chooks side on a mission to make the finals.

The Warriors host the Storm at Mt Smart Stadium in the first Friday night game at 6pm. Can the home side cause an upset against a very off Melbourne side to hand them their fifth loss in a row?
We then head out to CommBank Stadium to see the Eels and Panthers battle it out at 7.50pm. Parramatta handed the premiers their first and only loss of the season back in Round 9, will they give them their second loss here?
Super Saturday kicks off up on the Gold Coast with the Titans and the Raiders at 3pm. Canberra are desperate to push their way into the top eight, while Justin Holbrook is just desperate to keep his job.
We head out to PointsBet Stadium at 5.30pm for the match between the Sharks and the Bunnies. This one should be a close game, I’m feeling golden point vibes.
Then at 7.35pm it’s up to Suncorp Stadium for the Broncos and the Tigers. Despite the form of Brisbane, if the Tigers play like they did last week – with a different bunker – this could be a sensational game.
Newcastle host Canterbury on Sunday at 2pm at McDonald Jones Stadium. The Doggies are looking good and playing some great footy, while my boys are broken and struggling.
The round finishes at Netstrata Jubilee between the Dragons and the Cowboys at 4.05pm. The Red V are one of many trying to make the top eight and will throw everything they can at the visitors.

Mary gets to lead us off this week. I was fortunate enough to finally meet and sit next to our wonderful Mary at the Women in League Round Launch on Tuesday. She was just as delightful as expected. A real ambassador and advocate who has worked tirelessly to help promote and support women in sport.
Make sure you get out there this weekend and support all the women who help make this great game even better.

Given the jersey that the Manly Sea Eagles are wearing this Thursday I would love to see them win but given just how many players are missing, the Roosters are in a prime position to win and continue their push toward the finals.
The Storm have been struggling recently, but between Cameron Munster, Harry Grant and Jahrome Hughes there are enough points in this team to beat the Warriors.
Whilst I would love to tip with my heart, I’m going safe and picking Penrith to beat Parramatta, even without Jarome Luai.
The Raiders will beat the struggling Titans.
The next game will be one of the games of the round. I’m picking Souths purely based on the Latrell Mitchell factor. Latrell is in exceptional form and on his own seeks to lift the entire team around him. This game will have big ramifications for the ladder.
The Broncos will beat the poor old Wests Tigers, the Bulldogs will continue their winning streak against the Knights and the Cowboys will beat the Dragons.

While the seven players are being portrayed in some quarters as victims in the Manly pride jersey debacle, whether they’re basing their decisions on religious reasons or not, it’s still homophobic and should not be applauded in any way shape or form. Roosters by 20.
Storm need someone to play them back into form and the Warriors can do just that. Storm by 10.
Parra will lift for the Panthers clash, but Penrith will get revenge for their only loss of the season.
Canberra will account for the Titans, hopefully more convincingly than last week’s win over the Warriors.
Sharks will edge out the Rabbitohs by a couple.
Brisbane should be way too strong for the Tigers.
Canterbury will continue their late surge in Newcastle.
The Cowboys got a kick up the butt and still won on Sunday. They’ll be much better this time around and put the Dragons away.

In the Thursday game, I would have gone for Manly at full strength but with seven men down, I’m all over the Roosters.
Warriors at home is tempting but I can’t see the Storm losing five on the spin, plus never tip the Warriors. Melbourne it is.
Parra are chokers supreme at the moment, Panthers keep on Panthering. Penrith, but closer than expected.
Titans are useless, even Ricky’s Raiders will have to beat them.
Toughest game to call is at Shark Park…Souths are on a mega roll, but I’ve seen a lot to like in Cronulla too. High-scoring game goes to the home side.
Broncos at home to Tigers is a home win all day long.
Newcastle are edging into untippable territory, and while they might fire up against the Dogs, I expect Canterbury to keep their solid form going in another pointsfest.
Dragons are rubbish and continually scrape their way to wins…but I can’t see the Cowboys being that crap two weeks in a row. NQ to take it.

I continue my unbeatable 2022 tipping season, sweeping all before me an inspiring child of all ages to follow their NRL tipping dreams. Here’s this week’s winners.
The Roosters will beat Manly’s thirds team. The less said about this one the better, cos everyone’s had a go.
The Storm will break their run of outs against New Zealand, but it won’t be a pretty one.
Penrith will face their regular season nemesis Parramatta and take care of business.
Your presumptive champions, the people’s team, the Canberra Raiders will head to the Gold Coast and vape-orise the hapless Titans to the tune of 56 points as they continue their charge to September.
Souths will nab the Sharks in a beauty.
Brisbane will have their hands full but will beat the Tigers.
Canterbury should fancy their chances against a dawdling Newcastle.
And I’m on the Cowboys to beat the Dragons in the Sunday arvo game but be warned – this might be the upset result.

I still cannot get my head around everything that has happened this week at Manly. Roosters by 1000.
The Warriors will push the hapless Storm to the limit, but Melbourne will get the win.
Call me crazy (just look at my tipping record) but I’m going the Eels over Panthers.
Raiders should make light work of the Titans for a comfortable win.
Ohh, my back and forth. Hmmmm……..Bunnies.
I’m going for the upset with the Tigers completely fuelled by anger.
The Red V will be looking to make it back-to-back wins, but the Cowboys will turn it on for a solid victory.
My loyalty is a curse. As always, I’m tipping my Knights.
