After another prolonged and highly pressurised conclusion to a Premier League campaign for Merseyside club Everton, expert analysts and fans have echoed the desperate need for stability before their situation can get any worse in the coming seasons.

Since the arrival of current majority owner, Farhad Moshiri, the historically decorated Toffees have endured campaigns plagued with wasteful transfer windows, excessive managerial turnover and an overall lack of vision.

These issues left current manager Sean Dyche in a precarious position upon his arrival, with zero transfer budget, countless injuries to star players, a frustrated and torn fanbase, and a club stranded in the relegation zone.

Despite all of these obstacles, Everton were able to escape relegation on the final day, through tough, ‘grit and grind’, spirited performances, which Premier League viewers have now grown accustomed to in Sean Dyche’s sides.

And whilst some critics remain apprehensive about the former Burnley manager’s notoriously defensive play style, Dyche’s performance over the last few months at the helm should be enough evidence to suggest he is deserving of a full season in charge.

This belief to remain with the Englishman is echoed through Toffee TV presenter and loyal Evertonian Barry Cass, who emphasised Sean Dyche’s ideology of “getting organised” with “no thrills” or fancy tactics is exactly what his club desperately require, in a post-season live show last week.

During the stream, Cass appreciated Dyche’s ability to keep Everton up with effectively “no strikers” and “no winter transfers” to improve the squad. From this, the presenter believes that with a full pre-season, some added attacking “tools” in this summer window, Dyche can steer the blues clear from further relegation trouble and move forward.

Furthermore, the troublesome financial situation the toffees currently find themselves in would be a near impossible project for most top managers at the top end of European football, but would suit Dyche down to a tee.

An impressive decade at Burnley displayed his savviness on small transfer budgets alongside unprecedented success with minimal quality on paper, including a seventh-placed finish back in 2018, qualifying for the Europa League.

Now with Financial Fair Play restrictions halting any possible big money moves for Everton this summer, Sean Dyche’s experience will be crucial in improving a currently lightweight squad through shrewd purchases and intelligent sales throughout the window.

Finally, with this assumed minimal amount of money available, existing player development will also be a controlling part in Everton’s success in the short-term future.

Dyche displayed glimpses of this already in his first few months as gaffer, with his revitalisation of previously departing midfielder, Abdoulaye Doucoure. After falling out with previous blues manager Frank Lampard, Dyche gave the Mali international a second chance which paid off, as he went on to score all-important goals in a shock away victory at Brighton, and on the final day at home to Bournemouth.

All in all, despite not obtaining the most eye-catching, flashy or extravagant style of play, the out of favour board at EFC must remain faithful to current manager Sean Dyche, in order to ensure the best chance at avoiding anymore final day drama or flirtation with relegation in the coming seasons.
