Is Caleb Williams overrated? Maybe.

The six-foot-one, 218-pound quarterback is entering his second college year with his second college team.

Williams is transferring to USC from Oklahoma and following Lincoln Riley to the west coast, where they will hope to dominate the weak Pac-12 conference.

Williams is coming off a great first season, replacing Spencer Rattler.

And he even got some Heisman hype for a couple of weeks, which was kind of weird and crazy if you think about it.

The guy played four games and people wanted to invite him to New York for the Heisman ceremony.

But whatever. Now, is Caleb Williams overrated? Let’s look.

Minus the Texas game, where he first was shown and came back – and to his credit, he played amazingly and got the win – let’s look at his next couple of games.

In his next three games, he went 56-75 for 875 yards, 12 touchdowns and one pick. That is really good.

But the teams he was playing had defences ranked tenth, ninth and eighth. That means they were the three worst defences in the worst defensive conference in the nation.

Let’s compare that to his next couple of games where Oklahoma took a turn and took some losses.

In the next three games, Williams went 37-75, for four touchdowns, three picks and two losses.

Those defensive ranks were one, two and three. Now, he played six games and played the three worst and three best defences in the conference, so it gives us a weird tale of the tape.

But it is alarming how he does 9-18 and 8-18 in back-to-back weeks after getting the Heisman Trophy given to him.

I am interested to see how he does in the Pac-12. I bet he succeeds because of how bad that conference is, and they have an easy out-of-conference schedule, so he won’t see any crazily good teams outside of Notre Dame.

But I just want people to slow down on Caleb WIlliams. Let’s see what this guy can do.

Remember, he replaced Spencer Rattler and we all know how much hype he got.
