‘Auckland is a rugby league town’: How the Warriors have taken over - and how Super Rugby let it happen
If there was ever a testament required to the success of the New Zealand Warriors, we might have seen it this last weekend passed.…
The New Zealand Warriors enjoyed a strong win against the Melbourne Storm on Sunday afternoon at Mt Smart Stadium, but it wouldn’t be the 28-14 scoreline that would have people talking post-match.
Instead it would be a brilliant piece of individual acrobatics from Nathan Friend in the 58th minute, that set up a try of the season contender for the Warriors.
Friend would find his way beneath a high kick in front of the Warriors goals, taking a brilliant catch before quickly offloading the ball while riding high on a Storm player, which saw him do a complete backflip.
The ball would make its way quickly to Shaun Johnson, who produced some magic of his own, before some silky passing saw Tuimoala Lolohea with just enough room to plant the ball down in the corner.
