'A bit concerning': Novak Djokovic admits to not feeling well after upset loss at Rome Masters
He lost in straight sets to Alejandro Tabilo, less than 48 hours after being hit in the head by a water bottle that fell…
I’ve begun to wonder if Marcos Baghdatis will ever be able to recapture that form that saw him get to a career-high ranking of eight in the world back in 2006.
Nobody should expect Baghdatis to be that same player that introduced himself to the world in 2005. He was a rookie when it came to experience and his competitors did not know his game and he was just going out there with no fear.
The kid that, before he would serve each time, would have to bounce the ball between his legs. Thankfully, he still smiles quite a bit and tries to shake off bad points and bad decisions as quickly as they happen.
He has suffered several injuries in his career, particularly in 2008, when if it wasn’t his right wrist that was injured, then it was back.
All these injuries caused his ranking to drop down all the way down to 100 and it has been a fight for him to get back to that form that took him to number eight five years ago.
The top 10 is crowded these days, but there is no reason that Baghdatis can’t reclaim his place again.
Even in a match where he may be losing, it is still obvious that he has the fight and passion in him to play.
