While this year’s top two A-League finishers, Brisbane Roar and Central Coast Mariners, are both at long odds to progress through to the next round, Adelaide are sitting pretty.
With nine points from four games, the Reds sit atop Group E and a draw tonight would be enough for John Kosmina’s men to ensure their position in the knockout rounds.
Tonight’s opponents, Bunyodkor, come into this one in decent form themselves and look set to give Socceroo David Carney a start against an old A-League foe.
They sit atop their domestic league and currently occupy second position in the ACL group, and motivation will be high for this one.
Although he has been absent during parts of this competition, Dario Vidosic will be a key for the home side tonight – if he lines up. Both Vidosic and target man Sergio Van Dijk were both fitness queries going into this one, although both are expected to play.
This shapes up as a genuinely tight contest tonight and both sides will be gunning for a result. A draw would suit both sides, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the two sides even after ninety minutes.
We’ll have live scores as soon as action begins at 8.00pm AEST.
