A humbling loss to the Bulldogs in Round 10 brought the Crows back to earth with a resounding thud, after Matthew Nicks had planted his team inside the top eight following a series of impressive results.
Still a work in progress, Adelaide could well be ready to contend in 2024, yet will also be excellent nuisance value against the top sides this year and are still capable of earning a spot in the finals come the end of the home and away season.
The Lions look unstoppable right now. Unbeaten since Round 3 and off the back of seven dominant wins in succession, coach Chris Fagan lookS to have the squad polished and prepared for a much-awaited tilt at the premiership.
Taylor Walker and Riley Thilthorpe are massive inclusions for the Crows, in a match where the midfield brigade of Jordan Dawson, Rory Laird and Rory Sloane will decide just how competitive the Crows are to be on their home deck. Brisbane have little concern at the selection table, with Daniel Rich a welcome addition across the half-back line.
With his stars all on deck and the lethal front half weaponry at his disposal in excellent form, Fagan will be expecting more of the same from his team this afternoon.
Prediction
Adelaide do need to rebound after the disappointment of Round 10’s loss to the Dogs and have a real chance in front of their home fans to get things back on track immediately, against a Lions team with plenty of expectation around it.
Brisbane will be out to simply keep the momentum rolling and should have too much quality across the park for the home side. Expect some early resistance before the Brisbane small forwards light up Adelaide Oval in the second half.
