The AFL’s player movement period officially gets underway today as free agency opens and the first players begin to move. Join The Roar for live updates on all the latest trade news and rumours, starting from 9am AEST.

What can we expect to see get done today? A number of impending free agency deals have been telegraphed well in advance, and seem likely to be completed today.

First off you can expect Tom J Lynch to officially join the Richmond Tigers today on what is expected to be a seven-year deal.

Lynch won’t technically be a Richmond player until Gold Coast decline to match the offer, which may take until early next week – but expect the Tigers to formally lodge their bid for him today.

Also on the cards today is Luke Dahlahus’ impending moved to the Geelong Cats. The Dogs said shortly after their season ended that Dahlhaus would leave the club, and you’d assume the details are already finalised.

The same goes for Alex Fasolo who will likely sign a three-year deal to join the Carlton Blues today.

Fasolo and Dahlhaus are both unrestricted free agents, meaning that they’ll join their new clubs officially as soon as the bids are submitted.

Other potential deals today include Reece Conca to Fremantle and George Horlin-Smith to Gold Coast, though it wouldn’t surprise if there’s a little more to play out on both. Taylor Duryea to Sydney could be in the same boat.

There seems to be plenty left to play out on Daniel Menzel and Jordan Roughead’s futures – both are a chance to move this year, but it’s not clear exactly where to just yet.

Don’t expect any big news regarding Scott Lycett or Andrew Gaff today. The West Coast Eagles are having their best and fairest tonight, and you’d suspect any announcement on their futures will instead come early next week after the premiership celebrations have been thoroughly enjoyed.
