Show Preview

The second qualifying final sees the Brisbane Lions take on the Richmond Tigers in a rematch of last year’s clash at The Gabba. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:50pm (AEST).

Brisbane have backed up last year’s meteoric rise up the ladder with a second consecutive second-place finish. Despite concerns over the potency and accuracy of their forward line, the Lions enter tonight’s clash third in the AFL for scoring and with the league’s longest current winning streak of seven matches.

That last loss was against Richmond, however, who may enter this clash in third place but will back themselves to do the job again. The reigning premiers are the second-hottest team in the AFL with a six-game winning streak and enjoyed a 41-point triumph over the Lions in their Round 10 meeting.

The Tigers have a well-documented hoodoo over Brisbane, having defeated tonight’s opponents in 15 consecutive meetings, including last year’s qualifying final by 47 points and this year’s home-and-away clash by 41, while they also haven’t lost at The Gabba since 2004. Brisbane haven’t won a final since the 2009 elimination final.
