Carlton play host to the winless Port Adelaide with both sides missing a star midfielder and needing a win badly. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 1:40pm (AEST).

The Power have suffered nothing but agony in 2022, are playing poorly and were humbled by reigning premiers Melbourne in Round 4.

It might be early in the season, but this looks like a must win for Port, else their chances of a top-four finish are well and truly gone. Achieving a win will be far from easy against a Blues team certain to be furious after their loss to the Suns and one likely to come out with all guns blazing at the grand old girl this afternoon.

Team news sees the Power enjoy the returns of Robbie Gray, Aliir Aliir and Jeremy Finlayson, but suffer the loss of Ollie Wines thanks to the pesky pandemic.

The Blues have two huge outs with Lachie Plowman and Patrick Cripps injured yet the returns of Paddy Dow and Jack Newnes will help bolster their stocks.

Prediction

This looks like nothing other than a cracking affair, with a desperate Power up against a team filthy with Round 4 and determined to prove that they are indeed a different proposition in 2022. There is little logic that can be applied to this game – emotion will decide it; and if the Power produce what they have thus far, the Blues’ organisation and effort will prove the difference.

Carlton by 9 points.
