After consecutive losses put a dent in their strong start to 2023, Essendon face another major challenge as they head west to take on Port Adelaide. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:10pm (AEST).

Following a heartbreaking defeat on Anzac Day after leading Collingwood by 28 points at three quarter time, the Bombers were outclassed by Geelong, conceding the first six goals of the game before remaining competitive from there.

After four wins from their first five games made them one of the stories of the early rounds, the Bombers find themselves in ninth, and risk falling a game and percentage outside the eight with another loss here. Former captain Dyson Heppell is one of two changes, alongside youngster Alwyn Davey, with Massimo D’Ambrosio dropped and Sam Durham suspended.

The Power are on a four-game winning streak and look in excellent touch, their shock win over Port Adelaide at Marvel Stadium last week their best yet. With the draw opening up for them, Ken Hinkley’s men are suddenly a top-four contender, never mind finals, and another strong victory over the vastly improved Bombers would only enhance those credentials.

Captain Tom Jonas is back from suspension, alongside key forward Todd Marshall following a one-week concussion absence, while winger Xavier Duursma’s knee injury is the only forced change.
