O’Connor is the answer at 10, despite the fact that his body is breaking down and his injuries are non-stop he is by far the most creative flyhalf Australia has got without Quade. Lolesio is a solid player, but is merely a distributor, does not create anything in attack. O’Connor might be out of form and has a broken body, but if he finds some form he is by far our best replacement for Cooper. Lolesio is too flat in attack, Joc with some time at 10 will be a more lethal option. Combination with Paisami is another thing to consider. Joc for 10.

Great win from the Brumbies, terrific game plan and a terrific result, totally dominated the Highlanders. Great win for Aussie rugby.

REACTION: 'Hopefully he sticks around' - McKellar, White address Japan rumours as Brumbies claim rare Kiwi scalp

Folau Fainga’a is moving to the Western Force, so it will be interesting to see if they pick him for the rest of season. I assume Jahrome Brown will be picked at 7 and the second rowers will be Swain and Frost, with Hooper off the bench. Not sure when Neville is back though. Thanks for contributing.

Gutsy win over Drua a sign of potency for the Brumbies

no comparison between Paisami’s defence and Kerevi’s….

Paisami’s technique, workload and awareness in defence is levels above Kerevi.
Argentina used a huge amount of ball and targeted the centres a huge amount, Kerevi’s workload in defence just isn’t at the same level.

Here's why Hunter Paisami's performance against Japan was crucial

I agree totally, Paisami has a good grasp over the basics of the game yet hopefully he can develop these skills, but he is not at the standard of Kerevi and may never be, still a solid player though.

Here's why Hunter Paisami's performance against Japan was crucial

Nah mate im from NSW and support the Waratahs, I just understand that at international level you need an inside centre who can tackle, and without Kerevi, Paisami is clearly our best option at inside centre. As much as I like Perese, picking him at inside centre is not practical, his defensive awareness and technique is not up to test rugby, as reflected this year at Super Rugby, did you watch his defensive efforts at all?
As much as you might have some prejudice against Paisami, he is clearly our best option at inside centre he might not have the attacking spark of Perese, but at least he won’t leak 3 tries straight down the middle of the paddock. This article might not have explained it well but maybe you should have a look at some past Super Rugby games and take note of the defensive decision making of Paisami compared to Perese.
There is zero QLD favouritism here as I said im from NSW, when we play up against three UK teams, defence will be crucial and I hope you agree about that.

Here's why Hunter Paisami's performance against Japan was crucial

That was a set play that was called by and agreed by Cooper, Ikitau and Paisami, just because it didn’t come off doesnt mean that it was a spur of the moment thing, it was a set play just didn’t come off.

Here's why Hunter Paisami's performance against Japan was crucial

Totally agree with the hole that Kerevi leaves in attack and then that put pressure on Cooper to go lateral instead of direct. Kerevi’s damaging runs were the driving point of the Wallabies success of the 4 matches in the Rugby Championship.

But I still think that our best replacement is Paisami, his defensive effort on the weekend was impeccable, 12 tackles at a 100% tackle rate. His attack was of course not at the level of Kerevi’s, but I thought that he tried to straighten up the attack when he did get the ball in hand, although he was standing too wide. He a had a few touches early in the first half and in the middle of the 2nd half where he played as a link role to Ikitau out the back and Ikitau was able to run up some metres out wide. But most importantly, I found his work in defensive the most impressive, he made some crucial tackles out wide when the Wallabies looked vulnerable, for example when Valetini got the final turnover of the match that led to Connal’s try, that tackle was made by Paisami who tracked across in defence and was able to isolate the Japanese ball runner. Kerevi does leave huge holes in some aspects of the Wallabies outfit and is arguably the best player in the team, but not all things are bad when Kerevi is missing, especially in defence with the replacement being Paisami……

How the Wallabies overcame excessive blockages in Oita

could not agree more with you, he shouldn’t play for wallabies again….

'They were nervous': Rennie confirms Kerevi, McMahon, Hodge OUT of spring tour and serious doubt over Quade

good news that Hunter Paisami will get more games under his belt, obviously he does not have the same threatening attacking ability but the defensive part of his game is a level above Kerevi’s.

Paisami’s performance against Japan was very solid, not sure why he received so much backlash. His defence was impeccable with 12 tackles at a 100% tackle rate, he made 3 very crucial tackles when Japan were looking dangerous too. That last turnover from Valetini to seal the game, that tackle was made by Paisami who came across in cover to make the tackle. His attacking contribution was very solid too, 7 runs for 18 metres where he straightened up the attack well when Cooper was running laterally.

Paisami’s defensive game is a level above what Kerevi brought to the table, which will be crucial in our performance in the UK.

Hunter Paisami with more games under his belt will further show his defensive prowess

Very disappointing about Kerevi’s self directed departure, but is good news that Hunter Paisami will get more games under his belt, obviously he does not have the same threatening attacking ability but the defensive part of his game is a level above Kerevi’s.

He’s just stating the facts surrounding Sitaleki Timani and what a solid player he is due to his size, experience and ability. You and me agree to disagree. Whats your agenda here?

Can Sitaleki Timani force his way back into the Wallabies squad?

Totally agree about his scrummaging abilities behind the tighthead at scrum time, what an inclusion Timani would be! Thanks for contributing.

Can Sitaleki Timani force his way back into the Wallabies squad?

Not true about him chasing the money in France, he gave Rugby AU the first say in giving him an offer and was not wanted. So he went away and played in France. He also only arrived in Australia in Round 2 after their game vs the Brumbies so he was in hotel quarantine for Round 1. I agree about his age, but still he was a regular starter for Clermont and will become a regular starter for the Force. Fingers crossed he can find some form.

Can Sitaleki Timani force his way back into the Wallabies squad?

Just signed Jack Whetton who was a regular starter for the Highlanders this season and also starts for Auckland in the Mitre 10 Cup. 196cm and 118kg, good in defence and a good line out jumper. Solid Recruit.
