Reds own the stadium, government gave them a grant, which happens all the time

COMMENT: Bizarre selection call that sums up chaos and disconnect at Super Rugby's biggest basket case

RA have to be seen as decisive and working in the best interest of the national game here, because right now they seem to be asleep at the wheel. Other than a few decent appointments, their opportunity to show people how centralisation may work with the Waratahs is getting bogged down in reviews, their ability to manage/deal with the Melbourne stakeholders seems non existent, from the outside there is no evidence that they have an actual plan. Other than to wait and see how things shake out.

Can’t disagree about the administration, and if you include youth participation, yeah perhaps Soccer is doing better in that regard. I was thinking more about the national conscience, but fair cop, it is very subjective, and obviously I look at it from a union supporter I feel Union is higher regarded, but I’m bias.it actually isn’t a comparison I care to do because I don’t like this idea for one to be great, you have to sh!t on another.

Tahs in turmoil: Hanigan and Harrison jump sinking ship, skipper forced to stay, CEO complains of 'tricky' task

Does it thrive though?

Tahs in turmoil: Hanigan and Harrison jump sinking ship, skipper forced to stay, CEO complains of 'tricky' task

I was thinking he same thing, the CEO saying he can’t promise anything, the warratahs now being owned by RA are probably the only thing that is certain in the weird state we find ourselves in.

Tahs in turmoil: Hanigan and Harrison jump sinking ship, skipper forced to stay, CEO complains of 'tricky' task

End giteau law you may as well end any local decent competition, we can’t compete with the money being offered overseas.

Agree league has no chance of overtaking AFL on any tangible metric.

Where to now for Rugby Australia? Survey that reveals fans' staggering levels of pessimism

One thing that I feel is being overlooked here, is where do we want to be in five, ten, fifteen years, yeah we have no money, but European clubs are cashed up, saffas has trotted off to Europe, of kiwis and us don’t try and create as much content, and build out a very competitive south pacific competition we will be trounced by the south Africa/ northern hemisphere axis. We need to grow the competition and start bringing in money however we can, inc pokies and club house hospitality. We need to look forward, and try and grow, get we balls, get sponsorship dollars. Victoria can be a huge market for that, it isn’t about the talent we have now, as we can grow that, and key areas we can ship in some talent, our scouts may need to look internationally for talent to prop up the comp, but maybe Argentina has some stocks we could tap into, yeah they may not be wallabies eligible, but they will create a compelling local competition, that may drive local stocks to do better. This pessimistic, shrink to grow attitude is going to get us now where.

I don’t know why anyone listens to this Buzz fella, he is just an old fella yelling at clouds at this point.

'Dream is to wear a Wallabies jersey': Anasta's shock choice for NSW winger sparks debate

Agree to an extent, but teams also need to be picked on form.

'Everyone was dogs': Junior Wallabies roll up their sleeves to beat Springboks in TRC as rising fullback scores twice

Cohesion should be a factor in any team selection, in this instance it probably goes more to where these TRC U20 fixtures fit into the wider calendar, a prioritisation of players development and how much lead time they have. If these fixtures are the only three games these players play together all year, I would think cohesion would always be difficult, regardless of player availability.

'Everyone was dogs': Junior Wallabies roll up their sleeves to beat Springboks in TRC as rising fullback scores twice

I think you are overestimating the power the players have, players would be dictated to by their clubs.

'Everyone was dogs': Junior Wallabies roll up their sleeves to beat Springboks in TRC as rising fullback scores twice

He’s been playing for the reds, assume the U20 requested the call up, or as it is a Sunday the schedule doesn’t clash.

Judging by your use of terminology you are comparing conservatism to progressive, which if true and judging by your south African user name, it’s a different conversation, one I shall not be getting into. Notwithstanding you do raise some good points around society in general.

COMMENT: It's a disgrace rugby is heading to Qatar - but that's not because of sportswashing

These problems are in both progressive countries and non, the progressive countries are actively taking steps to improve the situation for all, others are squashing any deviation from the status quo. So I reject your comparison.

COMMENT: It's a disgrace rugby is heading to Qatar - but that's not because of sportswashing

Lack of vision coming out of RA is about right, need to rebrand to Victorian Rebels, tap into the grassroots support, diversify revenue streams (did somebody say pokies are popular) because tickets sales and sponsorship aren’t miraculously going to improve, and build rugby nationally. Yes finances are ah!te, but with the right management, they won’t always be.

Rebels' Super future hanging on creditors' Friday vote as Rugby Australia set to go against plan

So many different factions at fault here, directors for running a sh!t show, RA for pulling funding and not genuinely helping build rugby in Victoria, and the only ones that will suffer are the supporters… It’s hard being a rugby supporter!

Rebels' Super future hanging on creditors' Friday vote as Rugby Australia set to go against plan

This is the fallacy about not enough depth to maintain five teams, with fewer opportunities, and seemingly RAs lack of interest on spending money on players, they will leave, and so they should, no where to play, and no way to make a living

Wallabies' young gun mulling NRL switch as Rebels' future continues to cloud picture

I would settle for some basic marketing to let people know when games are on.

Australia's rugby talent is the 'best we've had since 2003' - it's time to let them flourish, not be shackled by team 'system'

I wonder what Karen Penrose did to cop the brunt of discontent…

Rugby Australia announce $9.2m deficit, board member fails to be re-elected but coup falls over

I agree, add much as there is a blatant issue with RA cutting funds etc. you can’t doesn’t how poorly current Melbourne rebels have run that operation

Geoffs wrap ups are quickly becoming my go to reading on a Monday morning.

The Wrap: Why SANZAAR must hold Frank Lomani accountable for 'going back for his hat'

For everyone somehow taking this as an opportunity to unload in Hooper you have to agree that maybe some of the skillset of a seven is more suited to 7s than a wing. Seven’s you have to be a jack of all trades, loose forwards have that game awareness in spades.

'Incredible' Hoops backed to do better than Boks legend who 'failed abysmally' in sevens switch

I get so much entertainment nowadays from the thinned skinned, small town mentality of some South African supporters, they take the bait every time, even when it isn’t bait. Everything is a an is and them mentality, how dare Habana give some praise to Hooper.

'Incredible' Hoops backed to do better than Boks legend who 'failed abysmally' in sevens switch

I’m sure this is a bit tongue in cheek, but I see this article as asking the obvious question… More Super Rugby clubs should be looking at additional revenue streams, if they are not they are putting their future in the hands of RA, which as we have seen is a bit of a basket case at the best of times.
