Got a good feeling about the Reds for the next few seasons. I reckon we’ll see a few more of them in the next World Cup if things play out well.

What will the Wallabies look like in 2020 - and at the next World Cup?

The local super team game live on free to air would be my first Resolution. No rugby on the free to air dial means only private school kids with dad/mum’s subscription watching and dreaming (and then practicing and becoming).

My second would be expanding the schools comp to aspirational state schools would be my second. Would think there’d be a good pitch there. SA, Wales & NZ all really benefit from the broader player base. I personally found it weird playing rugby till 12 and then having to shift to league and AFL because I was at the wrong school.

Third, I’d really try and ramp up coverage of the NRC on the ABC.The local team game live would be my first Resolution.

You just can’t beat statistics people. Smaller player base, smaller viewership, smaller results.

Four hard truths for Australian rugby

A place for Simmons now that he’s from NSW as well

Wallabies name squad for Spring Tour

“The moment they took rugby off free to air in this country it began it’s demise”
Nobody seems to talk about it but it’s clearly the root rot at the base of the tree. The only kids that watch it are kids watching Mum and dads Foxtel (working class kids need not apply) and it clearly signals that this is a second tier sport.

Hell, even the occasional games on Channel One aren’t regionally tailored for programming.

Hunt hurt, Reds lose

couldn’t agree more.

Eight talking points: All Blacks vs Wallabies, third Bledisloe Cup Test

Agreed on Coleman, Genia (C) , TPN in for Moore and your backline.

but I thought Hoopers aggression in defence, attack and at the breakdown warrants a starting berth. That kind of attitude gets seen by the other players and raises the bar for the whole team.

Would love to see a couple of big running and offloading centres outside Coops and Genia. It looks to me like Hodge is our inevitable long term goal kicker.

Roar Forum: What changes should the Wallabies make for the Springboks?

YES.

Since the Chiefs won their 2012, or maybe the reds in 2011, just about every NZ player (super & test) that gets tackled looks to offload = average gain metres doubled and an extra chance of runners facing a broken defence . Just about every AU player (super & test) that gets tackled looks to go to ground. Australian commentators reward this with words like ‘solid’ and ‘settled’.

Sure, it’s a very complex game with many areas to focus on but It just seems so obvious that I can’t understand why it’s not getting mentioned more often.

‘Not all bad’ is the best that can be said. A far cry from threatening the ABs.

Five talking points from the Wallabies' win over Scotland

Rubbish. Wallabies, Wales, Ireland, probably even Pumas would have provided solid resistance. I doubt any could have beaten them though. plenty of defensive holes this morning.

“Plus, he played at the Reds, where the coach would have more positive impact by taking a sick day.” = Zinger of the day.

Quade who? Foley is clearly Australia's first-choice flyhalf

Nailed it.
That said, i’m thrilled for Foley’s form and kicking hot streak. It’s great for his career and the wallabies as a team. Coops is awesome around the park – even behind the generally 2nd string packs he’s had to play behind under Cheika, but I think he really needs to re-engineer his place kicks and tackling to threaten for a starting place anytime soon. Cheika would have been seriously considering him had he kicked at 80%+ against Uraguay, but alas he had an absolute shocker.

Selecting the best team for World Cup success

Yeah, Alfie was a game changer with his kicking on the fifth. Before him i remember bomb after bomb and then all of a sudden the defence didn’t know what was coming. That said, Joey did it better and invented new kicks as quickly as Warne was inventing new deliveries.

Johnathan Thurston is the greatest rugby league player of all time

Boom. Some facts for the haters

Michael Cheika's Russian roulette selections for Eden Park

Cooper deserves the faith no doubt. Sure he’s had his ‘chances’ but behind crumbling, go backwards wallaby packs. When Coops is on fire and the backs understand his plays, the wallabies attack is the most superior i’ve ever witnessed (Pre 2012 World Cup & Spring Tour 2013).

It’ll be very interesting to see how he performs with a solid showing up front. Now all he needs is for the outer backs to be wanting ball and watching for passes. One dimensional rugby won’t win us a World Cup.

Awful predicted weather won’t be helping his game but 10’s need to be versatile.
