Cricket is an interesting game. And more so when it comes to tests. Yes India have better fast bowkers collectively right now. Earlier they had Kapil or Srinath or Zaheer but not multiple good fast bowlers. Right now Shami and Yadav are doing well. And they can crank up good pace. Hardik Pandya also consistently hits the 140 kmph mark. And then his batting is a good addition to the team. But the ability to face hostile fast bowling remains a question. Having said that it remains to be seen who in South Africa can prove to be the fast bowler Indians would not want to face. Steyn is great but he gets injured often. Philander is a swing bowler primarily and would not trouble the Indians. Rabada and Morkel are ok. So SA should not be a problem. But Starc, Cummins, Pattinson can cause serious damage with their pace. And hence I am looking forward to the Australian tour the most.

Maxwell can very well be the Australian answer for Moeen Ali. He is a perfect number 6. One batsman who can score quick is always helps. Especially at number 6. And his bowling should be used much more frequently. He does not have variations but can be fairly accurate. And spinners who are accurate do well these days even if they lack variation.

I think spinning tracks will also aid Australia. Lyon and O’Keefe are much better than Ali, Rashid and the other English spinners.

Yes. The match is evenly poised. At this point India are leading by 126 with 4 wickets down. You never know when wickets might fall in a heap. Or they might stick around. Anything less than 200 for target will be in Australia’s favour. Anything more than 250 in India’s favour. Between 200 – 250 will be equally balanced.
