How do the averages compare to nrl? Is aleague on the increase?

If the A-League did have relegation, perhaps the bottom four should all go?

Cheers Mark, Kentwell Cup gets a guernsey in Part 2; https://www.theroar.com.au/2019/01/28/should-the-all-blacks-and-wallabies-play-in-the-mitre-10-cup-and-nrc-part-two/

Should the All Blacks and Wallabies play in the Mitre 10 Cup and NRC? (part one)

Thanks Sterling, couldn’t find the equivalent comp in QLD, so went with the previous state cup in Part 2. https://www.theroar.com.au/2019/01/28/should-the-all-blacks-and-wallabies-play-in-the-mitre-10-cup-and-nrc-part-two/

Part 2 out now bigbaz, let’s bring those long lost days back!

Thanks Carlin, after researching, a North Sydney Shute Shield game is now definitely on my bucket list, as well as a Warringah Rats v Manly Marlins.
30,000 is insanely brilliant.
Just a heads up, Part Two now out mate… And correct you are, altering Super Rugby is the key, that a few other tricks…

Why hasn’t Sydney held aloft the NRC ‘toaster rack’ trophy?

CH… maybe the love can be spread… https://www.theroar.com.au/2019/01/28/should-the-all-blacks-and-wallabies-play-in-the-mitre-10-cup-and-nrc-part-two/

You’ve nailed it in one bigbaz. The schedule is just too full now. What was Country week that was chock full of Wallabies?

Should the All Blacks and Wallabies play in the Mitre 10 Cup and NRC? (part one)

Ryan, like your optimism and share it. The Super Rugby clubs will all be stronger in 2019 for various reasons. They should be better coached. This will give the Wallabies depth. Players will be better rested in 2019. If Johnson can just ensure players are selected based on merit we are a chance. This means a 3rd selector NOT from NSW. We might just stand a chance of getting out of our pool then doing some damage.
Disagree with taking a Super Rugby coach for Wallabies coach. All Blacks wouldn’t. Either take Larkham or an international coach like Schmidt, Hansen, Gatland, Deans, Eddie Jones, or Jake White.

Is 2019 the Wallabies' year?

Japan had some fire power of their own that day… Forwards Luke Thompson 196cm. Michael Broadhurst 196cm. Many Japan backs were 6ft+ as well.

That or could a height restriction be applied per team so they dont raid australias talent next?

Why hasn’t Sydney held aloft the NRC ‘toaster rack’ trophy?

You are correct Piru. I remember when ARC folded. Took seven years before NRC was established, lets not see that happen again!
That said, with some key changes, the NRC won’t need to be supported. It will stand on it’s own two fit as a great sporting event in Australia which symbiotically unites the entire Rugby community from RA, to SR, to clubs, to Uni’s, to Country, to Emerging States.

There is a cleaner way than starting from scratch. Stay tuned TWAS. If you are a Sydney Uni fan, cooked up a good idea for them this morning.

Why hasn’t Sydney held aloft the NRC ‘toaster rack’ trophy?

TWAS. Dead on with the travel. GRR suits a fly-in fly-out tournament. And Perth, great city, but is geographically isolated from the East Coast.

For GRR, hope Twiggy nails it.Problem I see, for expansion into Asia and success, what can be done when massive Fijians play against the smaller framed Asian teams?

Why hasn’t Sydney held aloft the NRC ‘toaster rack’ trophy?

Sorry, stand corrected. Manly Oval 5000 capacity…

Why hasn’t Sydney held aloft the NRC ‘toaster rack’ trophy?

That is a really good point. Not the bit about Jock not reading the article, but that the Waratahs needs to keep some squad spots open until the NRC finishes. Incentives need to be there.

Why hasn’t Sydney held aloft the NRC ‘toaster rack’ trophy?

I agree Sterling!!!
And it has done more than that, it has taken Rugby to the people of Australia, given Fiji a leg up into Global Rapid Rugby, brought Brad Thorn to the Reds and a host of other benefits.
As per article “Before people get carried away about crowds, first consider the primary purpose of the NRC to date. To provide a tier two competition to provide the player pipeline bridge between Super Rugby and Club Rugby. A compliment to the competition is it has not forgotten the rugby towns around Australia, the game has been taken to the people.”
Should the NRC now be reviewed? Probably. The perfect time to start talking about it is now, before 2020 hits. Will outline a new vision and path forward in the next article that delivers talent ID and host of other benefits. Think many stakeholders will be happy. Clubs. Current NRC. SR. RA. Sponsors. Fans. Players and their families.

Why hasn’t Sydney held aloft the NRC ‘toaster rack’ trophy?

I guess. Depending. If fans aren’t turning up, then good reason to relocate to strong holds to increase derbies. I’ve only ever had he option of supporting the Broncos. And I would rather support a team from South Brisbane. That would get me to Suncorp more often. Two derbies a year at Suncorp. Then add two more with Ipswich v Broncos at Suncorp. Many of the big Sydney stadiums are waste lands. Half empty, sorry worse than that maybe 5% or 10% capacity.

There are too many NRL clubs in Sydney

NPC is now Mitre 10 Cup and agree mixing Mitre 10 Cup and NRC isn’t really needed. We have that in the SR already. Concentrating domestically is key at NRC level. That said, as per my upcoming article, there will be a need for NZ and Oz rugby to get in a room.

Why hasn’t Sydney held aloft the NRC ‘toaster rack’ trophy?

That is great insights there Red Block. Just dug up the podcasts. Do you know which podcast it was? https://www.therugbyruckus.com/#podcast

Why hasn’t Sydney held aloft the NRC ‘toaster rack’ trophy?

How large a proportion though? 10%? 20? 50%? 80%?

If the Roosters were the only team in Sydney, Panthers, Eels, Dragons, Bulldogs, West Tigers would support the Roosters.

I think the result would be Broncos would loose a certain percentage, what it is I don’t know, but rivalries would then help to bring in new fans. Plus, local derbies would likely be more packed than say a Broncos v Shark game at Suncorp.
