Apparently there’s a rugby league team in Auckland which calls themselves the “New Zealand Warriors” with the same aplomb that the Auckland Herald newspaper calls itself the New Zealand Herald. No matter what they claim, they’ll always be JAFAs and if you want to establish a clear regional identity for the Blues Super Rugby franchise then just call them the JAFAs and everyone will know exactly. I found that term harsh. It should not be used to describe any player no matter what their performance. It should be reserved for incumbent Board members only.

more than two phases = outside the rules.
The result stands, of course, but the fact of officials operating outside the rules they are there to apply, also still stands.
I hark back to it as another symptom of a systems-level problem in rugby officiating which has not yet been adequately addressed. At the moment, officials may go on such frolics, and the doing so does render redundant the exploration of minutiae such as the shot clock and how it operates.

I wouldn’t worry about it, Geoff. The officials can do what they like, even outside the rule book. We saw this when the All Blacks had a try disallowed in the World Cup Final.

Hi Don – I’d missed that agenda from SOARR and so I had advocated for change, because the governance chops of the RA Board are known to be incompetent.
But SOARR likewise running an agenda on the Rebels is shite too.
The benchmark approach for a receivership is to trade your way out if you can. That’s normal commercial practice. By wanting to cull the Rebels, the SOARR folks appear to possess the same poor, perhaps willfully blind, approach to good governance.
Previously I had been delighted with SOARR’s arrival due to the poor governance of Waugh and his colleagues. But now they look no better. Details of SOARR’s agenda have become clearer, I made a mistake, I now withdraw any support for them.

He has been edging infield at the right times so he can get closer to seeing the ball while still covering wing and fullback. Who knows? Maybe he will get to touch it too! Having said that, the Waratahs backline pass timings really are poor, as you said. Sure thing: if he does get the ball, he will be rusty.
