He was my favourite commentator. Always easy to understand. Seems a total gentleman.
His childhood was married by the very early
death of his mother. His RAAF dad supported him 100%. I learnt his dad bought a tv & raffled it in the Sergeant’s Mess to raise money for Pete’s future.
Roy Masters 1990 book “Inside League” was short chapters on several top players including Sterling. I’m hoping I can get get again as someone borrowed it & it was never returned.

Doesn’t really matter. Lattrell would have helped at training as much as possible but I’m glad he wasn’t playing. I think his determination is excellent but had an unforseeable outcome on Joey Manu.
I was glad to see Panthers get the win. Great game played by both sides. I’m sad for Adam Reynolds as I think he would have preferred to be a one club player like Steve Roach & others

I am disappointing Cecchin retired before the GF. His honour guard of both teams when he left the field says a lot about the players respect for him.
Of course he made errors in his career. The new game, where trainers run the game, is a sad development.
Can touchies keep an eye on suspicious calls by trainers?
The commentary team have a better view of the field than the on field officials.
How about an earpiece for touch judge to be given a quick msg from them? Never happen I know.

I see no reason for league to be at the Olympic stadium when smaller grounds have better atmosphere. The SCG is great. Leichhardt doesn’t get enough games but is packed when it does.

A decent dispassionate critique. As a Tasmanian I grew up with AFL but now despise it & love rugby league. Each to our own. However AFL putting teams at Gold Coast & Western Sydney before Tasmania has really annoyed a lot of Tasmanians for whom AFL is the only footy code.

Well said. Ennis was never a player I particularly liked but I agree with him about this. Was shocked & disgusted Gus Gould defended Lattrell. Saying Trell is one of the best players coz he’s explosive & exciting is not enough. The best & fairest & fairest players are the players I admire. e.g Sally M winners Jonathon Thurston, Roger Tuivasa-Shek, & Jack Wighton.

Absolutely appalled Klein looked at Manu & did not send off Lattrell. The bunker ref must have been sitting on the toilet & missed the entire incident. If Manu misses the rest of the season so should Trell IMO. Really disgusted with Trell. I saw a player apologize to his opponent a week or 2 ago when walking off for his 10 in the bin.

I was a Balmain fan. I accepted the Wests Tigers merger & enjoyed seeing Benji & team win in 2005. Sorry but they’re not close to being in form & don’t deserve to be considered finals material IMO.

I do not understand why a team is permitted to have the original trophy for post match celebrations. IMO The trophy should be returned to the safety of an official to be returned to NRL HQ.
They all have their rings and can celebrate without the trophy.
Tennis players get a replica to out in their home cabinet. Perhaps the NRL should get a replica made of solid plastic they cannot break & forward that to the winning teams to play with.
