EB is 111kg according to AB web site. So perhaps a steak to two might get the required beef on him.

MATCH REPORT: All Blacks stunned as Ireland roar to deserved win

Worse, we have been dominated several times and still managed to sneak the win. Almost did it yesterday too. Thats the issue here for most of us. It‘s the style of play which is most important to many of us. We want to dominate every facet of play. Winning is the end result of domination. We haven‘t really dominated for a while. I‘m guessing at least 3 years.

Pretty harsh on EB imo. He did a mountain of good work yesterday, and without him I would think the score could have looked pretty dire. As it is Ireland played wonderfully had the bounce of the ball, almost a perfect performance from them and still only 9 points up. AS went missing, I hardly noticed him the whole game. Jacobsen could be the answer there. I‘m ope to it.

Coles most probably wont make it, or if he does more as the 3rd choice. Perhaps a bit like the great Kevin Mealamu.

MATCH REPORT: All Blacks stunned as Ireland roar to deserved win

After watching the game yesterday, I awoke to the feeling that the AB‘s main problem is that the forwards are not making ground over the gain line when taking contact like was the case about 4 years ago. That in turn creates slow ball. What the Irish forwards did yesterday was what I‘d describe as AB Template- hitting the gain line with pace and power, shifting the point of contact at the last moment (something Retallick used to be so good at whilst taking on the line) and being relentless. Forcing the opposition to commit (in the forwards), then moving it wide, using decoys, players running from deep changing the angle of attack.
When the AB’s don’t do that slow ball is presented and in turn the problem is compounded when the 9 has a rather (in comparison) slow erratic delivery. TJ‘s passes are anywhere between knees and shoulders, sometimes the receiver has to reach up to take it slowing momentum. The backline is already under pressure from the rush D. It has almost become predictable that the back line then just shovels it on or goes for the miracle low percentage move.
Retallick has been a shadow of his former self ever since dislocating his shoulder and subsequent move to Japan. He should have played a season of Super before suiting up for the AB‘s again.
We need our forwards hitting and crossing the gain line with power in order to get quick front foot ball. The rest flows from there. No team can survive being on the back foot the whole game. It was quite astonishing that the AB‘s were even still in the contest for so long under the weight of defensive work they completed. So the basis is astoundingly good.

I agree Jeff, Blackadder also weighs in at 111kg which imo is a pretty handy all round package.

What a balanced All Black loose forward trio can deliver

Have a look at my earlier post kH. AI isn‘t actually bigger/heavier than Blackadder/Papalii.

What a balanced All Black loose forward trio can deliver

Blackadder is 190cm and weighs in at 111kg according to the ABs web info. Patalii comes in at 193cm and 113 kgs and that makes them the biggest and heaviest on offer in the squad.
HS weighs 106kg, AI 105kgs, AS 99 kgs. So if size is the requirement then Blackadder and Papalii it is.

Just like the YC given- what could they have done (both guys didn‘t really wrap their arms) in the time/space available. The Ref clearly didn‘t want to even look at it, but the TMO insisted „with another view“ until it was clear he didn‘t really have a choice. Didn‘t matter in the end though.

MEDIA REACTION: All Blacks in 'Harlem Globetrotter mode', Wales a 'sorry rabble'

Hey guys, it‘s simple. If you want all your best players available when you want them you have to contract them. If however you can‘t afford to do that and you allow some players to go abroad, and be contracted elsewhere then you pretty much have to accept the fact that you can‘t have all your best players all the time. No point in crying over it. Accept it and get on with life imo.

Why Japan and the clubs are in the wrong over Quade and Samu

I agree fully Pinetree. I am surprised and shocked to see to what extent some Governments have done, including the erosion of basic rights such as in NZ where people have lost their jobs. The intrusion into medical information without consent such as with medical staff. Where will all this lead to? It seems like a slippery slide into an Orwellian State to me.
Not to mention the hospitalisation of fully vaccinated people in countries such as Israel, and Singapore.

Spring Tour in jeopardy as SARU says bio-bubbles are 'out of the question'

Thanks for that, I enjoyed the read. Keep it up mate.

Sean 'Fitzy' Fitzpatrick: Baby Black to rugby icon

James NZ, last year it was reported (stuff.co.nz) that approx 40.000 people die in NZ yearly du to the Influenza, Bronchitis, Pneumonia, and that due to the anti Corona virus measures there were in fact hardly any deaths at all. I find it interesting that almost nobody would normally even know or think about these deaths, and yet there is widespread panic over a virus that by all accounts only effects the very few. Ie overweight, high blood pressure, diabetes, heavy smokers/drinkers. By all means these at risk people could/possibly should consider a vaccine, but not widespread and worse using fear/coercion to implement a strategy that is as in Israel and other places has proven not to be effective. There is growing evidence to more than suggest that the vaccines are not without substantial risk. Check VAERS – USA, and or Yellow Card System – UK. The promised freedom for those who choose the vaccination is almost laughable when one considers the proposed new amendment that takes effect in NZ as of 01.11.21. ie all those entering NZ must have a negative test before boarding a flight, must be double vaccinated, and still required to do two weeks closed quarantine.

Imo the difference in performance of BB and RM last night Jacko was that BB was able to start the game and had time to work his „eye“ in just like a batsman facing the first few balls in cricket.RM didn‘t have that luxury. We all could see that BB also had his problems when he was introduced to the game late as in the Bled series. So it seems that both players have their issues when they don‘t start. To be fair normally they would always start for their club/franchise so I presume it‘s something they could both work on to become a bit better. I personally prefer RM, but consider myself lucky to have two exceptional 10s plying their trade for the national team. What a luxury. Horses for courses.

Seven Wallabies, five All Blacks and three Boks in our Team of The Rugby Championship

To be fair FF imo DMac didn‘t do himself any favours in this tournament except when he started at 10 vs the Puma. Otherwise he didn‘t ofer verymuch apart from running sideways and getting smashed behind the gainline and coughing up the pill. As the 3rd 10 in the squad is his value, but imo not in the 23 otherwise. The balance was wrong yesterday imo. QT would have been a better choice in hindsight.

Thanks for the article JS, you made my day, whilst waiting for the big event to start today. The comments your article provoked made me laugh, and I read a few to my wife and son. Thanks. Keep it up. At the end of the day it‘s just a game, but the best for me is this community. All well when it stays civilised. Let’s hope it stays that way. Good luck to all.

All the Boks need to do to win is listen to my wife

I agree with Geoff Doc, it was much more unlikely that the Boks would run it back from deep in their own territory, and therefore a much safer play than when behind and giving the ball to the most dangerous counter attacking team, just to hope for a Reffs call.

A narrow escape: what worked and what didn't for the All Blacks

Yeah in hindsight you may be right. But the ABs braintrust had to plan for contingencies in case BB had an injury in an earlier game. Imagine the outcry if they had let RM stay home in that instance.

All Blacks team: Weber at halfback, ALB returns, Mo'unga on bench as NZ chase 'Grand Slam'

I suppose the thinking is; if ALB goes off early, then RI will cover midfield, JB to wing and DMac to FB.

All Blacks team: Weber at halfback, ALB returns, Mo'unga on bench as NZ chase 'Grand Slam'

Yes i agree Jacko, I would have preferred Quinn instead of DMac, and Vai instead of PT.

Biltong you can‘t seriously be condoning the blatant time wasting that the Bok team is obviously using as a team tactic surely?

Time wasting hurts more than just rugby's spectacle

Thanks Spew81 for the article. You managed to describe my sentiment to a tee. Well done. I think we aren‘t the only ones feeling like this too.

Time wasting hurts more than just rugby's spectacle

For me the game on Saturday felt like a loss OC. Their was certainly no real feeling of satisfaction afterwards.

The Wrap: Tense, gripping clash of styles falls the All Blacks' way

So Ed from your count the ABs were missing 7 towline players, the Boks missed 3. So JD made a good point I‘d say.

The Wrap: Tense, gripping clash of styles falls the All Blacks' way

Pedro I‘d imagine they would/Could play Blackadder at 6 with A.Savea 7, and Luke Jakobson at 8. that would do me fine.
