Michael Vaughan stopped talking sense in August 2008 when he resigned as England’s Test captain.

Farcical 'gut feel' twist to umps' bad light decision after play delay slammed, great's left-field Warner replacement call

A waste of words to even comment on this article.

Pat Cummins isn't Dennis Lillee's fast-bowling equal - he's actually much better

I won’t comment on the AFL when it comes to facts and figures. But for the record Barcelona’s Camp Nou is undergoing a massive rebuild which will see capacity increase from 99,354 to 105,000. Renovations won’t be completed until 2026 and the club is playing its home matches at the Olympic Stadium which hosted the 1992 Games. Capacity is almost half that of Camp Nou.

Was there really a 'full house’ at the AFL grand final?

Spot on. If you want umpires removed from voting then scrap the award. When Charles Brownlow introduced the award in 1924 he did so with certain conditions. He said an umpire should award votes to the player considered to be the best and fairest on the ground. I’d think there was a strong emphasis on the fairest bit. Today’s media is obsessed with possessions and seem to think the player who has the most touches should be awarded votes. It’s not always about how many times you touched the ball. It’s about how you got the ball, where you got it and what you did with it.
In reality I don’t care much for the Brownlow any more. Arrogant administrators have made too many changes to Mr Brownlow’s original conditions and out of respect should have replaced the award years ago.

COMMENT: Lachie Neale's baffling win proves it's time to take Brownlow voting off the umps

Sportsbet’s Brownlow Predictor listed Neale to win and poll 32 votes, one more than the umpires. It wasn’t a shock to them.

Another hurdle for GWS was having to play on Friday night after a six-day break. Victorian-based Carlton plays tonight after an eight-day break. Don’t argue this is fair.

Finals Fix: The Pies were down and out in the prelim. How they turned it around is the stuff of greatness

Do you really think the English wickets have changed character over the duration of the first three Tests compared to how they deteriorate over 5 days on other countries?

Flem’s Verdict: No momentum change after narrow loss but Warner on last chance and Aussies need Wood plan

I’m tired of hearing about Cummins’ bad luck with the toss. He had an unprecedented run of correct calls before this series. His winning streak was supposedly because of good captaincy and not because of his good luck in winning the toss.

Adam Goodes did this towards the end of his career when it was called staging. It upset rival fans who bood. We know where that lead to!

Six Points: There's one way to stamp out floppers, 2023's dirtiest act, and enjoying the most even season in years

I agree with Cameron that the AFL has too many teams. There’s barely enough elite players to fill 12 teams and something has to bust. Hawthorn and North Melbourne will miss the $14 million and $12m respectively they receive each season from the Tasmanian government. That won’t be easy.
The AFLW competition will prove to be an added burden. Already, players in this fledgling competition are demanding higher payments, and with poor attendances and limited sponsorship opportunities, it is difficult to see the AFLW paying its own way, adding further pressure to the AFL clubs.
A 19th AFL team is also another blow for State leagues, already treated with contempt by AFL clubs taking players in a mid season draft.

Welcome Tasmania, but the AFL should be a 16-team competition so three clubs must go

Your headline is disappointing, coming from a supposed editor.
How can you possibly call for two people to be sacked, based on allegations and without hearing their side of the story?

Toby Greene had to cop a penalty. But why was umpire Stevic standing in Greene’s path and why was he close to the players’ huddle? Yes, Greene could have changed direction in the same way Stevic could have stepped aside. By standing his ground he appeared confrontational and provocative. This doesn’t excuse Green’s actions but Stevic is an experienced umpire and could of defused a potential incident by immediately joining his co-umpires for the break instead of mingling among the players. Some would see this as a clash of egos.
