Yes exactly- he needs a year at Saracens under the same coaching staff who oversaw Skeleton’s weight loss. He is simply too heavy for today’s game.

Is the 'Tongan Thor' truly ready for Test rugby?

QC pre knee injury and afterward are very different players. Remember how he would get across the gain line by beating opponents with a combo of pace and footwork and then put an outside back into a hole. When he lost his pace he could no longer beat markers with footwork and if he is not caught in possession his distributions are behind the gain line and not threatening. QC relied a huge amount on his pace and without it is a shadow of his former self. Back rowers are getting quicker and sadly QC’s productive time at Super level is behind him let alone at international which is even faster.

So why are we still talking about QC???

We have to talk about Quade

Spot on Waxhead. We know what a # 8 needs to look like – Kieran Read, a once in a generation player. 6’4” , 110kgs and mobile. We have players with these physical attributes, and we need to accept that in this position size matters.

A few are too heavy, e.g. Billy Vunipola if Eng. comes to mind so if we need to make compromises let’s sacrifice weight for speed ala Warren Whiteley from SA.

Higginbotham best fits the physical requirements but he’s obviously on the outer with the selector(s).

Wallabies without a no. 8
