Rugby, cricket and racing tragic. Why do they even have other sports? “You’re missing a great game ref !”

This is such a shock. Hooper, Cooper, Wright and Holloway were all locked in starting XV players until the past 2 tests….

Eddie has done what was needed four years ago and ripped the bandaid off. Now he's breathed life into Aussie rugby

Righto. A month ago if anyone said let’s drop Michael Hooper for Tom Hooper, Pete Samu for Rob Leota, Tom Wright for Vunavalu and Reece Hodge for Donaldson they would be laughed out of town. Embarrassing. Need 3 halfbacks. Jorgensen hasn’t played for months has he?

'I'd be picking him': Wallabies legend backs Hoops for RWC but reckons it's a '50-50' call

Tony, Tony…I like the article but a bush psychologist can tell you he wouldn’t get to first base with Eddie’s no DH policy. Now Latrell is a talent for sure and I am also a rugby league fan, but at the end of the day there are only 3 skills – running passing and tackling…. and a couple of blokes also need to be able to kick. I seriously doubt Latrell is in the top 10 targets…

If RA are happy to pay an average Joe $1.6m, how much would they pay for an actual rugby league star?

Hmmmm! Ands pigs might fly…..get Latrell to ring Timana Tahu, Benji Marshall, Roger T-Shek etc if he wants to know why it wouldn’t work out. And they were all better suited from a temperament point of view…

If RA are happy to pay an average Joe $1.6m, how much would they pay for an actual rugby league star?

Peter V bagging the AFL and rugby, MCLennon bagging league …..it always says more abut the critic than the target. Besides it offends a good half of their own camp, as they are also fans of the other sport! I have always and always been a rugby man who is also a league fan. He clearly has business acumen but don’t start me in the name- dropping re: the Creightins and the condescending arrogance of the “spelling contest” remarks.

McLennan treading fine line between ringmaster and clown with snarky rants when rugby needs more from chairman

Is it just Banjo or is anyone else questioning McLennan’s latest form. Please tell me it is all part of a master plan to attract private equity??? Challenging rugby league to a scrum contest and/or a spelling b is so embarrassing after last week boring the world with how he knows Angus Creighton’s grandparents….

Revealed: Why Rugby Australia boss resigned four months out from World Cup as replacement emerges

Jed Holloway was immense in a losing side against the Nlues and provided a contrast to his second row partner who is one name that won’t be in the mix ……

'There is no other position where the Wallabies have as much vulnerability - or as much promise'

Yea great to see the depth. I wish Mark Mark could tackle consistently as the rest of his game is good to watch. I agree that we may see Hodge moss out but those greyhounds tend to get injured…

How the evolution of Tom Wright could help solve problem child position for the Wallabies

So if you are Eddie doe you pick a back 3 that has
a) typical wingers and a typical fullback Koroibete, Vunavalu, Banks)
b) the low miatake/best 3 football brains (Koroibete, Kellaway, Hodge)
c) The X factor players that will make some mistakes (Koroibete, Petaia, Wright)
Hmmm…no vanilla for me, option c).
And you?

How the evolution of Tom Wright could help solve problem child position for the Wallabies

Not a well known fact but Lomax played Australian under 20s

Reds duo, Pone left out as Tahs cult hero named in 44-man Wallabies training squad to start World Cup year

Hodge and Kelleway are the most complete players. Jordy and Wright have a few too many rocks and not enough diamonds for Banjo.

'It's just crazy': Even Marky's blown away by his rise from sixth choice Tah, and a Fiji flirtation, to starting against Ireland

Bickering and BS. At the end of the day a lame yellow card decided the match. Let’s judge Rennie on the next few weeks and then decide to keep him in the chair until after the RWC and get on with it.

'Everything's on the table': RA considers Rennie's future, radical selection oversight, after Italy debacle

Should we be so surprised?
1) Italy thumped Samoa the week before
2) 5 tests in 5 weeks inevitable = a spell for the starting XV against the weakest opposition, in the middle game of the 5
3) our second best players are only about as good as the second tier nations best, as proven by the Australia A season and tour.

PS Donaldsons kick only mattered because Noah L missed a couple earlier…
PSS flyhalf is a infinitely easier when your piggies dominate

Studs and duds: 'Shocking' coach call, 'appalling' moment that could end RWC dream, time to axe 'invisible' man

To trade test with the French, English, South Africans and Argentinians means the Wallabies are not stuffed, it is just very competitive. Add Ireland , Scotland and Wales all strengthening and it just a different landscape than it was 15 years ago. …

'Losing mentality': What's wrong with the Wallabies?

Hanigan is five yrs older, no longer learning the position and will be a revelation in this tour. You heard it first!

UPDATED: Project Suli - Plan revealed for former NRL star, nine Wallabies picked to play Test strength Japan XV

Leota got Eben in a headlock in the push and shove and he came up and grabbed Alan A, who was late getting there. Mistaken identity!

'I want the boys to hurt': Everything Slipper and Rennie said about Boks 'choke', Beale, Foley prospects

Your are right on the second point. Scrum halves will be scrum halves. No surprises there for mine and both in the wrong (as is usually the case when two 9’s are involved !!)

'I want the boys to hurt': Everything Slipper and Rennie said about Boks 'choke', Beale, Foley prospects

For sure. Credit to the Boks. Their fresh team made the Wallabies look tired, particularly with no playmaker. Sadly the NRL game and the Swans game were both much better products this weekend.

'I want the boys to hurt': Everything Slipper and Rennie said about Boks 'choke', Beale, Foley prospects

Hodge is a safe bet and the closest thing to a specialist fullback, that the Wallabies have. They paid the price for not investing over the last few years at SR (with no NRC) rather than experimenting with Wright, Petaia or Kellaway on the international stage. Same goes for the Wallabies flyhalf dilemma. Will the South Africans suffer the same fate this weekend playing Willemse at flyhalf? I think so.

ANALYSIS: 'Improves everyone around him': What Reece Hodge did that makes him undroppable at 15

Yeah, the playmaker is only to blame when you lose and your pack dominates. I honestly thought Jordan P and Tom Wright had more to worry about than JOC, after last week’s loss.

The Outside Half Factory

By Max Boyce
I’ll tell you a story,
’tis a strange and weird tale:
Of a factory in my valley,
not fed by road or rail.

It’s built beneath the mountain,
beneath the coal and clay.

It’s where we make the outside-halves,
that’ll play for Wales one day………..
But now the belts are empty,
came a sadness with the dawn.

And the body-press is idle,
and the valley’s blinds are drawn.

Disaster struck this morning
when a fitter’s mate named Ron

Cracked the mould of solid gold,
that once made Barry John.

Good read Jim. This gave me déjà vu, then I realised Banjo had written an article on this exact topic on 31 October, 2018, the day before Michael Cheika failed to name a development flyhalf on the spring tour. You reap what you sow. Click on the link below. Almost four years ago!
