The 225 million is the total of all three monetary events – Lions, we get ticketing/Corp hospitality revenue & share broadcast, sponsorship & apparel with Lions. RWC 2027 & 2029 is 20% of profit, which will be huge. 225 mill is a pretty mild estimate.
Lions pays down debt & leaves us enough to get through 2025 & 2026.
RWC’S sets us up for the future as they are planning on investing this in a “capital untouchable” account like Sydney 2000 Olympic team had, they still have the original 100mill in the account and have run the AU program for 24 years in the interest.

Have you watched him play? I’ve seen him playing since he was a 6 year old and he improved every year, was disappointing he went to East after everything the Manly district did for him during his juniors career.

I don’t understand point two, are you advocating the dismantling of grass roots rugby? Where do all the 3rd & 4th grade and colts players go, thats the equivalent of losing 120 players per club or roughly 1200 players in the Sydney comp alone & that doesn’t even cover what you would lose in subbies, what a bloody daft idea!

Totally agree, however, who gets the cash? Let’s use Skelton as an example which clubs collects the transfer fee – Petersham, Syd Uni or the Tahs? Petersham should as that’s his first club!

Over and above that they also “contract” rugby playing kids from as young as 12 & 13 for about $1000 to $1500 a year, to try and keep them on RL once they are older, we should be doing the same via the Australian Rugby Foundation.

To be fair, quite a few of the Brumbies U20’s are from the NSW U18 team from the previous year, there are only 30 squad members allowed so you always lose a few, just a shame that some of the better ones need up @ the Ponies!

The sad reality is they:
1. RA Can’t afford it
2. RA Have already bailed them out to the same amount a few years ago
3. So why should we, the rugby public, have to bail out a team that’s obviously never going to thrive financially in a city that has more professional sports team s than ANYWHERE else in the world?
