I love footy and cricket and fishing. Mostly footy. I'm a huge Cats fan. For me, the most memorable match was the '89 GF. I seen how much it mean't to Dad and the agony of losing such a game drove me to stay a Catsman. Dad is a Qlder, but lived and worked in Melb and Geelong. His fav was the great 'Polly' Farmer. For me, Cam Mooney is the man, or was the man. Stevie J is now the man. Quote I live by "I'm too drunk to taste this chicken" (Talladega Nights).

Wasn’t Bailey originally selected for the ashes on one day form. They’ve done the same with Marsh and got lucky, that’s all. If he backs it up past this series then fine, good call, but don’t expect an apology just because you got lucky Invers and Co. The fact is, Aus are in the box seat with his first inns score, without that it would be a close game. I don’t remember CA ever apologising for stupid selections on their behalf.

John Inverarity and Co. deserve an apology

Lead of 550 would be nice.

Love the way he goes about it. No nonsense, fully focused and hard to rattle.

What’s the deal with the poor attendance? Any theories. Maybe those giant cups of beer come at a huge cost??

I couldn’t have said it better. He always plays the man and not the ball, due to his lack of skill.

Yeah, it seems crazy to me to have a rule and then an interpretation of the rule. That’s heading down the track of Rugby Union. Now some umpires are talking about, in particular the marking contests rule, that they will allow another 10-15% of body contact? How can they tell that. To me, that says the rule is a bit iffy to begin with. It should be as clear cut as hands or arms in the back, free kick. Correct use of the body(hips, shoulders) is fine. If both players are holding, no free. If one is, then free kick. Now it looks like Travis Cloke has got the message that if the defender starts the contact, he can do whatever he wants (like palming Harry Taylor in the face).

Footy fans need educating, say AFL umpires

What a croc! If the umpiring was consistent week to week, we wouldn’t have this rubbish of interpretations and rule changes. Umps are just trying to cover there own. That’s why they went from one to two and then three umpires. As the game got faster, they missed a lot more and got it wrong a lot more. I’ve played and followed footy most of my life and now someone is telling me I don’t know the rules!!! HA, what an absolute load of crap. When you have three umpires on the ground, you have three different people who interpret things differently. So fans are expected to know how each individual umpire interprets the game? I don’t think so. Just stick to bloody rules from the start of the year to the finish, and I will let you know when you stuff up, I promise!!! Don’t go all hot on certain things in the first few rounds and then drop off, like what happens every bloody year. Consistency from you umps would be appreciated.

Well the Cats will just have to prove you wrong, again! The well oiled machine is loaded with talent and the likes of Bartel, Selwood, Mackie, Johnson, Taylor, Kelly, Lonergan, Hawkins, Stokes, Enright are ample enough seniority around the place. If the ruckmen are fit for the season (Simpson,Blicavs,McIntosh), the Cats will be giving the rest of the comp nightmares again. Vardy is a forward, and a backup ruckman. Watch for big Dawse to dominate the ruck on his return. Top 4, at least! I won’t argue with the other three.

Four AFL teams set to slide in 2014

Matty Wade’s arms are too short. He’ll never make it at test level. There’s plenty of Aussie keepers better than him, even Dan Smith.

Great series Brad, but Matt Wade still wants your spot

Not a bad list there. I hear Hamish McIntosh is training well. Hopefully we can see him in the NAB Challenge.

Players to watch in the preseason cup (pt 1)

Ross Lyon, where’s all your flags? Just a dig, but seriously, shouldn’t amount of flags won be in the critirea? 1. Clarkson 2. Longmire
3. Scotty 4. Maybe Ross, probably not. Should Bomber get a mention? He is coaching this year.
