An Expert? lol Essendon certainly have problems – has anyone been able to identify them? Yes – they’ve had a huge list of injuries – but not once have they blamed that list for their performances. The line they all have is “each players plays their role”. Essendon have also used this year to get games into new players – I can name two also – Guilfe and Clarke (not the ruck – the other one). It’s stating the bleeding obvious to point out the inconsistent performances. So what IS the problem at Essendon Marnie?

Are Essendon actually in a funk, or did we all just fall for the hype?

Are you looking to reward mediocrity Josh? All teams have the whole season to prove they are better than most, and once they get to the finals they have the opportunity to be better than the rest. ONLY winning 12 games is hardly impressive – that’s just over half of the matches a team will play. This is meant to be an elite competition, and the finals are for the best of the best.

The AFL is ready for a ten-team finals series

You lot want to tread oh so carefully – there is no proof that players in the other clubs weren’t being injected with the same things the Bombers players were. The AFL certainly has its head in the sand, and planted all around it are a myriad of land mines.

Don't award the soulless Brownlow

The new sleeker version of Jobe is looking ready to fire! Unsure if he’ll be the in-and-under machine he’s been in the past, but my money is on him being a faster, more agile player – possibly returning to a key position in the forward-line, if not tearing it up on the ball.

Heppell would love to captain Dons

My preference is to keep Hurley and Hooker down back – where they’ve each picked up All-Australian honours in 2014 and 2015 respectively. If we can snare a lucky trade or develop one of our current lads into another key forward – ala Josh Jenkins – we’ll be fine for a centre spine.

Will Brodie or Hugh McCluggage look to be the best of the mids, but I like Todd Marshall as a key forward option in the draft – though yes, will likely need a couple of years to fill out: http://www.essendonfc.com.au/news/2016-07-21/the-nine-most-likely

The offseason: Essendon Bombers

I thought Patton would be an option also a couple of weeks ago – but he’s now playing and fitting in too well for the Giant’s to contemplate letting him go. A taste of almost-success this year with GWS may also see him dis-inclined to leave.

The offseason: Essendon Bombers

Interesting read thanks Tiarne. The PSD might turn out to be interesting this year – with J-Bomb slipping through to his Victorian club of choice – and I’m waiting for the 3-5 club swaps that will turn the #1 and Pig into 2 top 6 draft picks 😉

The offseason: Essendon Bombers

Perhaps you missed the details for the headlines – the Club is focused on season 2016 with the players and team it currently has. At the same time the Club has a responsibility for the 34 players who were suspended, and an interest in retaining the services of the 12 players who remain with the Club. That rally was arranged by the supporters – it was the first opportunity to show our support for the 34, for the 12, and for all the players currently playing for the Club. No so simple, but us supporters are there for the current list, and also those who were affected by the actions of the Club in 2012.

Why the Bombers might surprise many this season
