Cricket Australia needs to extend the shield season and it needs to be active when we are hosting test series. We are not taking the usual hosts advantage by shrinking our talent pool whilst mothballing our first class competition. If Starc or Wade are out of form during the test series we don’t have any shield players in red hot form to replace them with. Only BBL nonsense to reference. And players on the fringe like Neser and Henriques arnt playing any matches. I realise its been a Covid year and player bubbles etc but I think it’s a problem that we have to fix
Weve been dropping a lot of home series the last decade or so. And rarely do we win away. Australia has fallen behind other countries and might not even be in the top five test teams anymore .

In this digital age of sports broadcasting I wish we were given the option of having no commentary. Just the crowd noise, even if its fake at the moment. And brief labelling of players who have taken a mark or are lining up for goal. Maybe a special button on the remote dedicated to this. That’s my fantasy. The commentators are very annoying.
It's time for Channel Seven to improve
Leave the number of players on the field alone. It’s worked in the the past. It can work again. Firstly, pay holding the ball. If you are caught with the ball, it’s a free kick to the opposition , regardless of prior opportunity. These free kicks could speed up ball movement. Secondly, halve the interchange bench back to two, as it used to be. Fatigue will set in. The game will open up more.
