Hello and welcome to The Roar’s live blog coverage of the a round 14 clash between Manly Sea Eagles and New Zealand Warriors at AMI Stadium, Christchurch.

I’m a first-time blogger, so any tips, tricks or feedback are welcomed. I will endeavour to do justice to what is shaping up as very interesting game.

Peach was back 10m.. no question.

Canberra Raiders vs Penrith Panthers: NRL live scores, blog

I can’t help but agree with you on the 2014 analysis.! I was at both of Penrith’s finals that year and it made no sense that a win in week 1 resulted in playing the side that finished 7th at their home stadium.?!? That year really hurt.. taking my Panthers hat off and looking at the situation from a neutral perspective…
Penrith managed to topple the Roosters (minor premiers no less) at that exact stadium as an ‘away’ game.. so I can hardly claim that it’s the sole reason we weren’t at the big dance.!

The argument over suburban grounds won’t conclude anytime soon. There isn’t a simple answer, and there are plenty of arguments both ways. Personally I would love home ground advantage to be exactly that. Regardless of crowd numbers, if 20,000 Penrith supporters are going to pack out the stadium to the 2,000 away fans… Penrith earned that right by finishing 1st or 2nd.

Will the Dragons cope without their stars?

Surprising to say the least. What sort of tracking I wonder.? Surely Turbo, Latrell and Gagai all have quicker top speed that Chambers. And over short distance I’d expect him toward to bottom of outside backs playing in the opener. Perhaps it’s deceptive?!

On Peachy, we need to remember how much of a loose unit Fitler is. He’s probably got some sort of idea that no one would even consider. Lol
That’s not to say it’s a good one.

How good is Radley.?!

He wasn’t on my radar at the beginning of the year, but after playing a few roles for the Chooks in the opening half of the season, he’s one of my favourite players.! And I’m a Panthers supporter!!!

Rep player in the making. Anything he lacks in natural talent is made up with grit, hard work and his ability to keep turning up. His defensive attitude is immense.!

NRL team of the week Round 13

Jake should wear 13 and play 80mins no doubt.
Tommy will hopefully get a roaming licence and pop up in the middle of the park running off his brothers hip.

But I can’t agree with your Peachy analysis.. I’d happily play him off the bench in the middle. The thing about Peach is that he doesn’t run into bodies, he runs into space. Good luck to Napa, Wallace and co in the middle keeping up with his lateral movement. And he has bags of pace, no qualms with him coming on out wide either. If you think Chambers is quick enough for a backline, then Peach streaks in.!

I agree with most of the arguments you’ve presented.

However, there has to be a difference between being confident in a NSW win, while remaining realistic.
This is definitely the weakest QLD lineup we’ve seen in a decade…. if not longer. But they’re still rep level players. Hunt isn’t Cronk, McCullough isn’t Smith and Munster isn’t JT. But they’re still outstanding footballers. They won’t be easy beats.

The other point I feel is a little off is the confidence you seem to have in the outside backs. Definitely a very exciting backline and full of potential. But the attacking potency of Roberts, Latrell and JAC isn’t anything better than what we’ve had in the past. Think Jennings, Hayne, BMoz… in their prime, these guys were just as exciting and potent. The problem is that quite often, Origin doesn’t lend itself to their strengths. The likes of Chambers, Inglis and Gagai seems to thrive on playing tough, Origin style footy, while remaining lethal when they get the opportunity.

The one resounding argument i’ll throw my full support behind is Nathan Cleary.! This kid will wear the 7 for NSW and Australia for the next 12 years. His age isn’t a factor whatsoever. He shows composure and game control well beyond his years, and I have no doubts he’ll rise to the occasion. (Did I mention I’m a Penrith supporter.?)

NSW by 14.

Completely agree. I don’t know what the answer is though. I can concede that in the scenario of Penrith 1st, Dragons 4th, there is a benefit of taking the game to ANZ for crowd numbers. I can see 30,000+ turning up to see the game. But in years gone by the ‘home final’ was a bigger inscentive to a top 4 side than the ‘second chance’. Penrith haven’t been beaten at home yet this season, and if they manage 1st place, they should be rewarded with the home ground advantage. No doubt would be a sell out, but they’d have to turn away the 10,000+ fans that would have fit into ANZ.
