Gordon and Lolesio should both be in the Wallabies match day 23. Who starts depends on the style of game chosen for the opposition, conditions etc. Both can cover from the bench. Both bring different but positive skill sets. They are both maturing nicely. Gordon offers strong defence and running game. Lolesio controls the game very well and his kicking is great. He is improving his running game also. As Tirunui or Hoiles said last night. The team doesn’t win these games and play clinical rugby without the general controlling the game.
It is great to have these two in the mix and some in the wings like Donno and Lynagh growing up. Better position than the last few years. Quade and Bernie can enjoy Japan rugby and well deserved retirement. Lets move on and support the next gen.

How are the Brumbies mooching off QLD and NSW. I am a brums fan but played all of my rugby in QLD. Ran a rugby club for several years and on the regional rep committee also. Not once was the issue of the ACT siphoning funds brought up at any meeting or tabled at a AGM. We often complained that the reds and QLD rugby were brisvegas centered and “mooched” off the regions. Brisbane private schools enticing all the kids on scholarships and decimating u16 and colts. But we handled it and adapted. Can’t fault people for taking up opportunities to improve in life. Sound familiar?
To be clear mauls are ok and are legal, and a point of difference for rugby. They way you go on I think you need to finally take the plunge and focus on league. You sound like a broncos and maroons fan any way. One conspiracy theory after another.

Your tin foil is showing there Jimbo. The brumbies have scored 48% of their tries this year from unstructured rugby. Some of them from counter attack and some from phase play and amazing slick hands like on the weekend to finish. I think it is the reds reverting to mauls this year considering your top try scorer is your hooker. I think the reds throw it around and can’t finish and have to revert to set piece. Not as clinical as the brumbies.
Also why is doing the basics of rugby negative? It seems to me you take any position that is opposite to the style of the brumbies at the time. Strange. Nothing wrong with a combination of set piece scoring, counter attack, aggressive breakdown pressure, line speed, x factor and good decision making. Seems to me the crusaders have been doing this for years. They score a lot of tries from mauls. OK for them and don’t see you calling them negative and the ruin of NZ rugby.
Pretty sure if the reds were on top and score 80% of their tries from set piece you would be extolling the virtue of grinding rugby and how the reds just invented it. Go to bed please will you Jimbo. Your getting boring.

I think it is time for Canberra to apologise for the bullying you received as a young fella at the hands of the overbearing ACT rugby community. You obviously need to vent. Fair call P2M TW does have defensive deficiencies. But so did Donaldson. Missed some simple tackles. TW would have provided some attacking spark we were desperately lacking.
Ikotau being left at home and taking Jorgensen was baffling. Keeping a badly performing Petaia in the team seemed odd when Perese was available and Lenny good to go by at least wales.
Leaving Pete Samu out was also crazy and giving his play all positions replacement Kemeny all of 2 mins all World Cup. Eddie’s selections and pig headed figjam did us no favours. He is more ginger meggs than world class coach. Totally embarrassing.

I see your point here MD. What we all are coming to realise is that selections, game plane and defensive structure was the major issue. I would contend that the form of Marika, Kerevi and some others was greatly impacted by these deficiencies.
Imagine having Carter Gordon coming on after Noah Lolesio kept us in the Fiji match with penalty goals and some structured rugby. Imagine then Carter starting against Wales after that confidence boost and Noah coming on late to kick us clear. All with Quade Cooper in the squad mentoring the both of them. Imagine.

Your assumption that there is a correlation between aus nrl international success and the wallabies not being as good as the kangaroos. This is not an equal argument. You acknowledge this in your post.
The Local strength of the NRL does not suggest that the wallabies and super rugby clubs are running training with old witches hats on sheep paddocks. With weights sessions followed by beers on a Thursday. I have seen the professional systems and facilities in rugby and nrl. They are comparable.
This idea that just emulating league is going to help us incorrect. How is nrl sprint and weight training going to improve our lineout , scrum and pods system. I feel we have tried the league way too often.
As for front office improvements I couldn’t agree more. However in my experience this is the one area that the nrl do not want to help. It would mean increased competition for viewers dollars. Also just visiting other clubs is not the answer. All coaches and administrators do this already. There are some fundamentals that need to be sorted in union I agree. But just saying be more like league is not the way.

Really. Didn’t see any of them in the semi finals. Non of them above 6th. Only because you mentioned Jorgensen. The brumbies group won more games and looked better than any other aus team. Just lost to a very good chiefs team. Only lost to the force. Once. Who needs kiwis to bring Aussie’s down. We do it ourselves. Reds and Tahs fans need to understand they are not the dominant team in aus and haven’t been for a while. Great game and well done to a brave brumbies side.

Why not have NZ add teams? They have the player base and the competition grows. More games, 14 Team comp minimum. Final 8 is more realistic and rewards performance. More revenue at games and broadcast deals. I believe the comp is too small and too short. If NZ are dominant then let’s lean into that and get them to provide more product. Overall the standard will increase in time as it always does.

Why should we drop any teams. NZ has 5 mil and 5 super rugby teams. Sydney has 5 mil and 9 NRL teams. As shown by the additional Moana NZ based team that depth needs to be distributed.
NZR should add at least 2 teams. More even distribution of talent in NZ and more games to watch. Aus teams will be more competitive. Just a thought.

The Reds have scored 53 tries this year and the Brumbies 44. Considering your top try scorer is your hooker it looks like you need the maul to unlock defenses. NL has layed on some nice tries and looks like the 5/8 general everyone has complained he hasn’t been. The guy can’t win with you. “doesn’t take control of a game” “doesn’t run the ball” he has done both of these all season. Still no love. Bet you would like the local Qld guy better in a reds jersey.
Would love to see that warm up game you propose. Reds would get smoked. Considering they can’t beat any top 3 sides or let alone some bottom three sides I think you are overestimating them. I hope they do well in the finals as well as the Brumbies and Rebels. Good for aussie rugby.
