Apparently the Crows have promised to redraft Joyce.

Crows axe Joyce in wake of Tippett saga

I agree Rob, GPS schools seem to nurture sportsmen better than other schools, they tend to give them a wide range of sports, and sports such as rowing, athletics, swimming etc really build them up for football, if that is there interest.

They also tend to not burn them out, play at their own age and school level, and not risk them to injury playing too many games.

In the southern states some kids are drafted straight out of a GPS school to an AFL club without playing many games at a WAFL/SANFL/VFL level etc. This is pretty unheard of, except for GPS schools, so they are held in pretty high regard.

NRL must tread carefully into the future

Like anything politics played a part, if i remember correctly the dying billionaire Richard Pratt had a lot to do with it, Richard Pratt had a lot of goodwill amongst the AFL heirachy, and perhaps it was to hard to say no.

More deals to be scrutinised: AFL

Although having said that girls play in the same team as boys at club level, there are school comps where there are girls teams specifically at that age.

Everyone happy, it’s all good.

Where do i check ?, where did you check ?, prior to under 12’s girls play in the same team as boys, there are not specifically girls teams.

Keep em coming, i can talk Australian football all day, i am sure you want to as well. LOL

The funny thing is, your post has everything to do with your personal bias.

Expansion to stay, despite tribalism

You are one bitter man, your facts are all over the place and wrong.

Soccer is not being forced off anywhere by anyone, they have new facilities built for them, this would allow Birchgrove Oval to be free on saturday mornings, currently 238 locals have to play out of district if they want a game of Australian football, this issue is all about allocating sports grounds fairly, nothing more, nothing less.

It would also be fair to say that if a local AF club did exist then locals who did not want to travel out of district all the time may look at joining, perhaps some the 500 odd undertaking AF at their local school.

And as usual you break your word regarding never venturing onto a AFL thread, what a joke …LOL.

He has been saying one thing, and doing the opposite for years.

To answer your last sentence, it would be a resounding … NO … and then a resounding YES.

@GCS, but, but, but its the world game, why would they need a AFL player LOL.

Glad to see your amused so easily, there really is nothing to fear here, so off you toddle, back to your little box.

Baby fuss, pay attention to the link i provided, if you can !!.

Fuss and then baby fuss … how cute LOL.

Some more facts for everyone to consider:

– initial expression of interest by the AFL was for Glover St in Lilyfield.
– Count paid up school players who are unable to play for a club as their is no place for them in Leichhardt.
– Initial expression included broad postcode Forest Hill and Camperdown.
– Second expression of interest was more formal.

It is very clear that rugby league is putting up a stink against football growing … nothing more nothing less. It is not a fight for Birchgrove, it is a rugby league vendetta. And it is helped along by the newspapers looking to sell papers.

And of course if fuss can sink the boot in, he will at any chance for reasons only known to himself and his Psychiatrist

Soccer has new facilities being made for them, which would leave Birchgrove free on sat, AFL NSW put in a submission for the ground, no-one is being shunted, as usual you are on the wrong track, tone down your bile.

In 2010 i was offered membership passes about 5 times to different games, so the Eagles must have been crap, but i guess with such a premium on memberships no-one was seriously thinking about not re-renewing.

Wonder if the same thing will happen at the new stadium.

Generally Football clubs of all codes spend what they make, the Swans made a couple of quite big million $ profits and ploughed it straight back into upgrading player facilities, gyms etc.

There are not many clubs like WCE who have many millions in the bank and also fund grass roots football in the west to the tune of big $$$.

The AFL is there to run and develop Australian football in this country and beyond, any profits they make are eventually used for the benefit of the code. ( although that may be debateable)

Will there be a payoff for the AFL though?, if we look at how the AFL have gone about it, there are pros and cons.

The recent national under 16 comp has been building for several years, this year there is a flying boomerangs team, a world team, a South Pacific team, a North Western Australian as well as the traditional states and territorys, the AFL is intent on opening up a new pool of players, which will in turn increase the quality of players across a 18 team comp. ( you would think)

But i totally agree with your point about youth V experience, maybe the AFL did underestimate the advantage older AFL teams have over the new ones, and perhaps the new teams could have drafted some more experienced players ….. hindsight !!.

I agree with parts of your post, i think it cheapens the actual AFL comp , by expecting people to part with their hard earned by attending what seems to be training runs around witches cones, as we have seen by the Suns it takes a couple of years at least to be competitive, so instead of having just one hopeless team we have 2.

On the other hand, i pretty well watched all of the GWS/Freo game, and GWS are not lacking talent, they lack AFL fitness and hard mature bodies, if a new team was put in today maybe more experienced players would be neede, but as we have seen by new teams such as Brisbane Bears 30 years ago or so, experienced players don’t really work either.

As an aside i watched Folau today and he has talent, good hands and vision, but lacks either the ability or mental hardness to run, in a good team he would be a servicable player.

The bigger question in a way would be what the hell has happened at Melbourne, they have the least amount of excuses.

How about 3 tissues, 1 for you, and then 1 each for your other mates, i suggest you contact boomshanka, you expat kiwis can start a “it’s all so unfair club”.

The HS certainly covers the storm, there are 2 games each friday night on Gem, another 2 at midnight replayed, and foxtel for every other game and they play out of a stadium built by the government that they did not contribute to.

Not sure but maybe a sunday game on tele in Melbourne, there is one in Perth.

Lets face it, your a sook, and if i am not mistaken, up in arms about a AFL game in Wellington, being so unfair to ratepayers. LOL

And the irony of it is, there is a mountain of RL news on the respective HS and Age websites, but you are on the internet complaining about newspapers, LOL.

@ Emric, you sooks make me laugh, every sport you could ever want is on their website, HS is the same.

Never stated QLD was a AFL state, never will be, but you have been found out as a ignorant troll, but no doubt you wear you ignorance as a badge of honour.

On women in footy, my daughter was never interested in football untill my wife did a get to know footy course because my son was playing, my daughter got dragged along, obviously had some fun, met a few of the girls who were running the course and ended up joining West Perth Womens team, i obviously went to quite a few of their games, and there is some very good talent, and womens football can be very entertaining.

From what i understand eventually their will be a national league of sorts.

Celebrating all women involved with AFL

Train lines are all good and well, but where can i have a beer before and after the game, thats what is important to me, where are all the pubs around this new stadium ??.

Celebrating all women involved with AFL

Macca, you answer your own question, as you say horse racing, tennis, cricket are all the main sports over the summer and spring, and take the bulk of the headlines, sounds good to me. Football is not the main sport and for the average punter , they might glance over their new draftees, a couple of trades if the actually happen, to keep an eye out for the March champions.

Only to the most devoted fans do the NAB cup matches mean a lot, or do they take a keen interest, i think even the real footy AGE site closed down last year for a while.

But i will give you a fact, when Collingwood loses the HS circulation around Northcote, Thornbury, Clifton Hill, Heildelberg etc etc is way down.
